A check valve which includes a valve body having an inlet end, an outlet end and a flow bore that extends between the inlet and outlet ends; a valve seat which is positioned across the flow bore; and a flapper which is configured to seal against the valve seat. The flapper is connected to or formed integrally with a pivot pin and is pivotable between a closed position in which the flapper is positioned against the valve seat and an open position in which the flapper is displaced from the valve seat. The pivot pin has opposite first and second ends, each of which is supported in a corresponding resilient bushing which is supported in the valve body. The resilient bushings allow the flapper to better align with the valve seat when the flapper is in the closed position.

Check valve

A diverter valve which includes a valve body, an inlet, a plurality of outlets, an internal cavity to which the inlet and the outlets are connected, and a valve member which is movably positioned in the cavity. The valve member includes a through bore which is configured to connect the inlet with a corresponding one of the outlets for each of a plurality of operative positions of the valve member. In operation of the diverter valve, the valve member is movable between its operative positions to selectively connect the inlet with any one of the outlets.

One illustrative diverter valve disclosed herein includes a body with a primary flow path therethrough, first and second fluid flow galleries, first and second fluid outlets, a first sliding sleeve element and a second sliding sleeve element. The first and second sliding sleeve elements, respectively, include first and second internal flow bores, respectively, wherein each of the first and second sliding sleeve elements are adapted to be moved from a first closed position to a second open position, and vice-versa. In the first and second positions, respectively, the first sliding sleeve element blocks or does not block, respectively, fluid flow between the first internal flow bore and the first fluid flow gallery. In the first and second positions, respectively, the second sliding sleeve element blocks or does not block, respectively, fluid flow between the second internal flow bore and the second fluid flow gallery.

Diverter valve

One illustrative valve disclosed herein includes a body, a first flow bore in the body that includes a fluid flow gallery, a first fluid flow port and a second fluid flow port, wherein the fluid flow gallery is in fluid communication with the first and second fluid flow ports. In this example, the valve also includes a second flow bore in the body and at least one sliding sleeve positioned in the body, wherein the at least one sliding sleeve is adapted to be moved from a first closed position to a second open position, and vice-versa, wherein, in the first closed position, fluid communication between the first flow bore and the second flow bore is blocked and wherein, in the second open position, fluid communication between the first flow bore and the second flow bore is established.

A skimmer system for removing a substantially liquid substance such as oil floating on the surface of a body of water has a reservoir body defining an collected fluid reservoir and having a primary weir edge. A weir tube extends upwardly within the reservoir and provides a secondary weir edge being of less height than the primary weir edge and defines a vortex chamber. A plurality of buoyancy members support the reservoir body in relation to the surface of the body of water and are adjustable relative to the reservoir body by power operated or mechanical devices for selective positioning of said primary weir edge relative to the water surface. A pump having a suction inlet is in communication with the vortex chamber and has a discharge outlet conducting recovered oil to a collection barge. A power source such as a hydraulic fluid supply is connected in driving relation with the pump.

A sensing valve includes a flow control member and a sensor element responsive to the presence of a substance in a flow of fluid for actuating the flow control member for stopping the flow of fluid when the substance is present in the flow of fluid. The sensing valve has a housing defining an upper region having a generally horizontal flow channel from an inlet port and a lower region having a generally vertical flow channel to an outlet port. The sensor element is disposed in the horizontal flow channel, and the flow control member is disposed in the vertical flow channel. In a preferred construction, the flow control member has a conical surface engaging with a complementary conical surface of a seat, the sensor element is seated on an internal end portion of an inlet pipe, and the sensor element and the flow control member are coupled by a shaft which protrudes from the housing through a gland threaded into the housing. The extent of protrusion of the shaft indicates whether the valve is open or closed. The sensor element can be replaced by unthreading the gland without removal of the shaft or the flow control member. The sensor element, for example, is a polystyrene cylinder that dissolves in the presence of aromatic hydrocarbon.
