Provided is a bimetallic tube for transport of hydrocarbon feedstocks in a petrochemical process unit and/or refinery process unit, including: i) an outer tube layer being formed from a steam cracker alloy including at least 18.0 wt. % Cr and at least 10.0 wt. % Ni; ii) an inner tube layer being formed from an alumina forming bulk alloy including 5.0 to 10.0 wt. % of Al, 18.0 wt. % to 25.0 wt. % Cr, less than 0.5 wt. % Si, and at least 35.0 wt. % Fe with the balance being Ni, wherein the inner tube layer is formed plasma powder welding the alumina forming bulk alloy on the inner surface of the outer tube layer; and iii) an oxide layer formed on the surface of the inner tube layer, wherein the oxide layer is substantially comprised of alumina, chromia, silica, mullite, spinels, or mixtures thereof.

In one aspect, the present techniques include a heat exchange apparatus including: a) a body comprising an interior cavity, the body including: a first surface and a second surface defining at least a portion of the body and the first surface positioned exterior with respect to the second surface and the interior cavity, and the second surface positioned exterior with respect to the interior cavity and interior with respect to the first surface; b) a first conduit for conveying a fluid to the body; c) a second conduit in fluid communication with the first conduit wherein the second conduit is positioned at least partially within the interior cavity of the body; and d) a joint between the first conduit and the second conduit, wherein the joint moves between a first location and a second location based on the temperature within the interior cavity, wherein at least one of said first location and said second location is positioned intermediate the first surface and the second surface.

Apparatus and methods for utilizing heat exchanger tubes

In a process for converting methane to aromatic hydrocarbons, a feed containing methane is contacted with a dehydrocyclization catalyst in a reaction zone under conditions effective to convert the methane to aromatic hydrocarbons. The reaction zone is contained within a reactor and the reactor or an internal component of the reactor has at least one surface that is chemically exposed to the feed and is formed from a refractory material that exhibits a carbon uptake (mass of carbon absorbed per unit of exposed metal surface area) of less than 25 g/mwhen exposed to mixture of 50 vol % methane and 50 vol % Hat 900&#xb0; C. for 168 hours.

Production of aromatics from methane

Disclosed is a method and system for reducing the formation of metal catalyzed side-reaction byproducts formed in the feed vaporization and introduction system of a methanol to olefin reactor system by forming and/or coating one or more of the heating devices, feed lines or feed introduction nozzles of/with a material that is resistant to the formation of metal catalyzed side reaction byproducts. The invention also may include monitoring and/or maintaining the temperature of at least a portion of the feed vaporization and introduction system and/or of the feedstock contained therein below about 400&#xb0; C., 350&#xb0; C., 300&#xb0; C., 250&#xb0; C., 200&#xb0; C. or below about 150&#xb0; C. The temperature can be maintained in the desired range by jacketing at least a portion of the feed vaporization and introduction system, such as at least a portion of the feed introduction nozzle, with a thermally insulating material or by implementing a cooling system.

The present invention is directed to the use of computational and other experimental data in the design of new pharmaceuticals, and in predicting the metabolism and toxicological profiles thereof. Computational and other information is used to further understand drug metabolism and toxicology, particulary in relation to monooxygenase enzymes, such as those of the CYP system, that are involved in drug metabolism. Information derived according to the practice of the invention is useful in determining the clearance or half-life of drugs, and the nature and toxicity of byproducts resulting from their metabolism. Use of computational and experimental data to model organic compound reactivity in cytochrome P450 mediated reactions and to optimize the design of pharmaceuticals

Reactive sites on a substrate molecule, typically a drug, may be identified and the relative rates of their metabolism by the CYP enzymes may be determined. Determining these relative rates is an important factor in determining the absolute rate of metabolism of the individual sites and the substrate molecule as a whole. This information is also a critical factor in determining whether and how the substrate can be redesigned to improve its ADME/PK properties. In this regard, it is particularly important to know how the relative rates compare to the rate of a non-metabolic side reaction (branch pathway) such as water generation and regeneration of the substrate.
