A door system includes a door module and a door sensor. The door module is configured to be installed in proximity to a motorized door opener and includes communication module, door close/open module, a door status module, and a housing. The communication module is configured to receive user commands through an Internet router from a remote door server. The door close/open module is configured to direct the door opener to open or close the door in response to a user command received by the communication module. The door status module is configured to send door status information to the remote door server. The communication, door close/open, and door status modules are integrated within the housing. The door sensor includes an active sensing component configured to be physically coupled to the movable door and is configured to collect door state information and transmit the door state information to the door module.

Garage door system and method

A garage door module includes a manual switch, a wireless communication module, a door close/open module, a push logic module, and a housing. The wireless communication module logic module.is configured to receive user commands from a remote garage door server. The door close/open module is configured to direct a garage door opener to open or close a garage door in response to a user command received at the manual switch or the wireless communication module. The push logic module is configured to automatically push garage door status information to the remote garage door server. The housing contains the manual switch, the wireless communication module, the door close/open module, and the push logic module.

A universal system and method for controlling existing garage doors via existing garage door openers. The system includes a module operable both manually and automatically to control the existing garage door, Wifi communication circuitry to receive instructions wirelessly from a remote, circuitry for automatic and remote control of the garage door and circuitry for pushing garage door status information.
