A knockout providing either bundled wiring or multiple electrical conduit connector access to an electrical enclosure. The knockout provides one large knockout for use with bundled wiring or a large conduit connector when activated and a number of small knockouts, each for use with one small conduit connector when activated. The small knockouts are arranged tangentially within the larger knockout in a radial pattern.

The present invention provides a connector bar for making electrical connections to terminals having a lug body with an externally accessible interior cavity and a binding screw. The connector bar includes an elongated body having two ends and made of electrically conductive material. At least one of the ends having a solid cross-section with a configuration which creates less distortion in the sides of the lug body compared to a round cross-section configuration when the binding screw contacts the end with torque applied for making the pre-determined mechanical and electrical connection. Preferably, the cross-section configuration of the end is defined by a flat top surface larger in width than the contact area of the binding screw, two arcuate sides having an arc value approximately the same as the interior cavity of the lug body, and a flat bottom surface smaller in width than the top surface. The present invention also provides a main breaker and a panel assembly connected by the above described connector bar in a load center.

An electrical distribution load center consists of a non-conductive enclosure and a circuit breaker bus bar support panel that are interconnected by interlock members that can be snap-fitted to secure the two panels to each other. The support panel also has a latch member so that the bus bars can be mounted onto the panel in a heat-staking, insert-molded or snap-fit arrangement. The support panel also has elements for locking the circuit breakers onto the panels in conducting contact with the bus bars. The enclosure and the support panel are enclosed by a non-metallic trim panel that has a non-metallic door hinged thereto and which carries a latch for latching the door to the trim panel.

The present invention provides an electrically-insulating wire management assembly for a metallic electrical distribution device housing. The assembly includes at least one slot having a generally v-shaped length formed at an angle through the cross-section of the assembly's body. Each slot is arranged to receive a flexible electrical conductor through one open side edge of the body and guide the conductor entering through the outer face of the body, across the length of the slot, and exiting through the inner face of the body into the housing interior. The angle of each slot is adapted to provide an interference fit with the conductor. The assembly includes means for securing the assembly to the side wall of the housing in a position allowing the conductor to enter the housing through the assembly. The present invention also includes an electrical distribution device housing adapted for connecting with a wire management assembly. The housing including at least one knock-out or cut-out integrally formed in at least one side wall. Each knock-out or cut-out extends downwardly from the upper edge of the side wall and corresponds in shape to the wire management assembly.

The present invention provides a cover for an exposed bus bar attached to an electrical control device having a contour mounting surface for circuit interrupters. The cover includes a generally planar body member having sufficient size to substantially cover the exposed bus bar. The cover includes means for securing the body to the device so that the position of the body prevents contact between the bus bar and a person's finger or equipment particularly when an individual circuit interrupter is mounted to the device.

A modular energy management circuit breaker (EMCB) system is adapted for installation with existing panelboards. It comprises a bus way that includes a connector that is coupled to an interface module connector. The interface module, which extends across the panelboard, makes connection with the power bus and is connected to the panelboard by snap-in means. A control module is adapted to interengage with another connector in the interface module and to control a plurality of EMCBs. A bus way includes a plurality of connectors adjacent a plurality of circuit breaker positions which are connected to suitable circuits in the control module for controlling the drivers for the EMCBs. A terminal box is formed at the end of the control module and has provision for connecting a plurality of control wires to suitable terminating devices for interfacing external controlling devices to the control module. The bus way is supported adjacent the panelboard solely by means of the connectors connecting it to the interface module and to one or more EMCBs. All wiring to the energy management system is via printed circuit boards in the modules and interconnecting connectors.

An electrical distribution load center consists of a non-conductive enclosure and a circuit breaker bus bar support panel that are interconnected by interlock members that can be snap-fitted to secure the two panels to each other. The support panel also has a latch member so that the bus bars can be mounted onto the panel in a heat-staking, insert-molded or snap-fit arrangement. The support panel also has elements for locking the circuit breakers onto the panels in conducting contact with the bus bars. The enclosure and the support panel are enclosed by a non-metallilc trim panel that has a non-metallic door hinged thereto and which carries a latch for latching the door to the trim panel.

A wire protection device and system that can operate in combination with non-metallic and metallic enclosures to help prevent damage to branch wiring during drywall installation. In some instances, the device serves to prevent the branch wires from being dislodged from the enclosure. The wire protection device may also be made to fit into a wire clamping system that is molded integrally with non-metallic enclosure.
