A battery pack includes a housing and a plurality of cell module assemblies arranged within the housing. Each of the cell module assemblies includes a positive collector plate, a negative collector plate, and a plurality of battery cells. Each of the plurality of battery cells includes a positive terminal connected to the positive collector plate and a negative terminal connected to the negative collector plate. A number of the plurality of the cell module assemblies within the housing defines a capacity of the battery pack.

A battery pack includes a battery housing, a positive terminal, a negative terminal, a plurality of cell module assemblies, and a battery management system. The plurality of cell module assemblies are received within an internal cavity of the battery housing, and include a plurality of lithium-ion battery cells that are connected in parallel. The battery management system is in communication with at least one of the plurality of cell module assemblies within the internal cavity, and is structured to receive a voltage tap measurement from each of the plurality of cell module assemblies within the internal cavity, compare the voltage tap measurement from each of the plurality of cell module assemblies to an expected voltage tap measurement, and determine if a voltage tap measurement for a cell module assembly within the plurality of cell module assemblies deviates from the expected voltage tap measurement to identify a faulty cell module assembly.

A battery charging system includes a charging rack comprising multiple receptacle, multiple battery assemblies. Each of the battery assemblies includes a housing having a handle, rechargeable battery cells disposed within the housing, and a mating feature protruding away from the housing, wherein the mating feature is configured to selectively connect the battery assembly with the receptacle of the charging rack and includes multiple ports electrically connected to the battery cells and configured receive power from the charging rack to charge the battery cells, and wherein the handle comprises a release button configured to selectively disengage the battery assembly from the receptacle of the charging rack.

The tools and/or batteries include wireless transmitting capabilities (e.g., an ISM unit) to transmit data to a fob, puck repeater, and/or gateway over an ISM network. The gateway is operable to translate and output the ISM communications over a cellular network to a remote monitoring unit, such as a personal computer or smart phone. Additionally, the gateway is further operable to translate and output cellular communications from the remote monitoring unit to ISM communications over the ISM network. A wireless tethering system and method is also disclosed whereby an ISM battery places a power tool in a lock-out or limp mode after the ISM battery remains outside of ISM communications for a prolonged period of time.

The master controller is configured to control a rotational speed of each of the pair of wheel motors and the multiple blade motors. The charging system is electrically coupled to the lithium-ion battery and configured to charge the lithium-ion battery and no battery management circuitry is provided between the charging system and the lithium-ion battery.
