A fuel injector and mini-mixer system includes a mixing element tube configured to mix air and fuel prior to injecting the air and fuel into a combustor, an injector positioned within the mixing element tube, the injector being configured to inject a fluid into the mixing element tube, one or more air inlet slots positioned on one or more sides of the injector, one or more fuel injection holes configured to inject fuel into the mixing element tube, and one or more delta wing vortex generators positioned within an internal wall of the mixing element tube, the one or more delta wing vortex generators configured to generate a vortex pair that accelerates the mixing of air and fuel injected into the mixing element tube. Additional air slots can be provided downstream of the delta wing vortex generators to energize the vortex pair or lift fuel away to prevent flameholding.

Fuel injector and pre-mixer system for a burner array

The present disclosure is directed to a fuel injector for a gas turbine engine. The fuel injector includes an end wall, a centerbody, an outer sleeve surrounding the centerbody from the end wall toward the downstream end of the fuel injector, and a thermal management conduit. The centerbody includes an axially extended outer wall and inner wall extended from the end wall toward a downstream end of the fuel injector. The outer wall, the inner wall, and the end wall together define a fluid conduit extended in a first direction toward the downstream end of the fuel injector and in a second direction toward an upstream end of the fuel injector. The outer sleeve and the centerbody define a premix passage radially therebetween and an outlet at the downstream end of the premix passage. The outer sleeve defines a plurality of radially oriented first air inlet ports in circumferential arrangement at a first axial portion of the outer sleeve. The outer sleeve defines a plurality of radially oriented second air inlet ports in circumferential arrangement at a second axial portion of the outer sleeve. The outer sleeve further defines a first fluid passage arranged between each first air inlet port and extended from the end wall. A fluid passage wall extends from the end wall within the first fluid passage to define a second fluid passage extended from the end wall within the first fluid passage. The outer sleeve further defines a first injection port in fluid communication with the first fluid passage and a second injection port in fluid communication with the second fluid passage. The thermal management conduit is defined by the fluid communication of the fluid conduit and the first fluid passage and the thermal communication of the second fluid passage in adjacent arrangement with the first fluid passage.

The present disclosure is directed to a method for operating a turbine engine, the method including arranging a fluid conduit through a fuel nozzle in a first direction toward a downstream end and in a second direction toward an upstream end, the fluid conduit in fluid communication with a premix passage via a fluid injection port; flowing an oxidizer into the premix passage via a radially oriented first inlet port and a radially oriented second inlet port; flowing a first fuel to the premix passage through the fluid conduit and the fluid injection port, wherein the first fuel is provided to the premix passage axially downstream of the first inlet port; and generating a premixed flame from a mixture of the oxidizer and the first fuel.

Centerbody injector mini mixer fuel nozzle assembly

A fuel injector for a gas turbine engine including an outer sleeve. An upstream end of the outer sleeve defines an inlet opening and a downstream end defines an exit opening, each of which defined within the outer sleeve. The outer sleeve defines a radial opening extended therethrough along the radial direction. At least a portion of the outer sleeve defines a plurality of grooves. The outer sleeve defines a fuel conduit through at least a portion of the outer sleeve outward of the plurality of grooves along the radial direction from the fuel injector centerline. The fuel conduit defines a fuel injection opening inward along the radial direction of the radial opening defined through the outer sleeve. A first member of an arm is coupled to the outer sleeve. A second member of the arm is contoured defining a fuel injection port generally concentric to the fuel injector centerline.

A system including an annular combustor having a first liner wall disposed circumferentially about an axis, a combustion chamber disposed circumferentially about the first liner wall, and a second liner wall disposed circumferentially about the combustion chamber. The annular combustor is configured to direct a combustion gas flow in a downstream direction through the combustion chamber away from a head end toward a turbine. The system also includes a supply passage configured to supply a fluid flow from a compressor to the combustion chamber. The supply passage has a flow path architecture having a turning portion that turns the fluid flow from a compressor discharge direction to an upstream direction generally opposite the downstream direction of combustion gas flow.

The centerbody includes an axially extended outer wall and inner wall extended from the end wall toward the downstream end of the fuel injector. The outer wall, the inner wall, and the end wall together define a fluid conduit extended in a first direction toward the downstream end of the fuel injector and in a second direction toward an upstream end of the fuel injector. The fluid conduit is in fluid communication with the fluid chamber. The outer wall defines at least one radially oriented fluid injection port in fluid communication with the fluid conduit. The outer sleeve and the centerbody define a premix passage radially therebetween and an outlet at the downstream end of the premix passage. The outer sleeve further defines a plurality of radially oriented first air inlet ports in circumferential arrangement at a first axial portion of the outer sleeve, and a plurality of radially oriented second air inlet ports in circumferential arrangement at a second axial portion of the outer sleeve. The fluid cavity wall is disposed axially between the first air inlet port and the second air inlet port and extends radially from the outer sleeve toward the centerbody. The fluid cavity wall defines a fluid cavity and a second fluid injection port in fluid communication with the fluid cavity. The second fluid injection port is in fluid communication with the premix passage.

The present disclosure is directed to a fuel injector for a gas turbine engine including an end wall defining a fluid chamber, a centerbody, and an outer sleeve surrounding the centerbody from the end wall toward a downstream end of the fuel injector. A gas turbine system include a first body including a central passage extending from a mixing region to a central outlet at a first downstream end portion of the first body, a fuel outlet in the mixing region, an oxidant outlet in the mixing region, and an outer passage including a first passage extending in a downstream direction toward the first downstream end portion and a second passage extending in an upstream direction from the first downstream end portion into the mixing region.

System and method having fuel nozzle

A method enables a combustor for a gas turbine engine to be assembled. The method includes coupling an inner liner to an outer liner such that a combustion chamber is defined therebetween, wherein the outer liner is fabricated from a plurality of panels coupled together, and coupling an outer support radially outward from the outer liner such that an outer passageway is defined between the outer liner and the outer support, wherein the outer support is configured to channel cooling air from the outer passageway towards at least a portion of the outer liner.

Method and apparatus for assembling gas turbine engine combustors

A replacement method facilitates replacing of a portion of a combustor liner within a gas turbine engine combustor in a cost-effective and reliable manner. The combustor includes a combustion zone that is defined by an inner and an outer liner. The inner and outer liners each include a series of panels and a plurality of nuggets formed by adjacent panels. The method includes the steps of cutting between an outer surface and an inner surface of at least one liner panel, removing at least one panel that is adjacent the area of the liner that was cut, and installing a replacement panel into the combustor for each panel that was removed from the combustor.

Methods for replacing combustor liner panels

An annular gas turbine engine combustor liner has a single piece annular shell circumscribed about a first axis of revolution. The shell has a hot side and a cold side, an annular dilution hole section, and a plurality of asymmetrical cylindrical dilution holes extending through the section. Pockets are circumferentially interdigitated between the dilution holes and extend into the shell from the cold side such that the pockets form dilution hole bosses between the pockets through which the dilution holes extend. Each of the dilution holes is circumscribed about a second axis of revolution which is not parallel to the first axis of revolution. The liner may further include forward and aft annular cooling nuggets located forward and aft of the dilution hole section and having annular film cooling slots which are open in the axially aftwardly direction. The shell is machined from a single piece integrally formed near net shape form such as a forging, a casting, or more particularly a spin or centrifugal casting. The invention includes a method for making the annular gas turbine engine combustor liner by forming a single piece integrally formed near net shape form and machining it to produce the shell and the above features in the shell.
