A build on-demand chassis with a universal bay system that can be assembled into different configurations to support different system requirements from end users includes positionable partitions and a bay support assembly for each set of devices. A controller communicates with a microcontroller unit (MCU) in each bay support assembly to determine a slot identifier and a type of device supported by the bay support assembly to provide greater flexibility in what configurations are possible. When a processor in the information handling system sends an instruction for a type of device, the controller knows the location and capabilities of the device and manages the communication.

Universal bay chassis and system for self-identification and automatic configuration of an information handling system in the chassis

A floating connector assembly for an information handling system includes a first float bracket and a connector. The first float includes a bar. The connector includes a first receptacle and a first compressible component. The first compressible component is placed in physical communication with the bar of the first float bracket. In response to a force exerted on the connector, a region of the first compressible component is compressed. The connector floats with respect to the first float bracket in a direction of the force exerted on the connector.

Fan carrier system for an information handling system

A locking mechanism for a device assembly in an information handling system is disclosed. The locking mechanism includes a bulkhead, a compression spring, a leaf spring, and a lever. The compression spring is located within a cavity of the first portion of the bulkhead. A first end of the compression spring is located beyond a surface of the first portion when the compression spring is in a first position. An end of the leaf spring is in physical communication with the first end of the compression spring. The lever is in physical communication with the second portion of the bulkhead and includes an outer surface in physical communication with the leaf spring. When the lever interfaces with a portion of the information handling system and the lever is in a locked position, a connector of an electronic board is fully mated with a connector of the information handling system.

Tolerance absorbing lever mechanism

A latching mechanism includes a body having a trip-latch with a protruding portion that protrudes from the body, a release button coupled to a release shaft disposed inside the body, and a holding edge disposed on the release shaft. The holding edge engages the trip-latch to maintain the release button in a depressed position. The holding edge disengages the trip-latch to place the release button in a non-depressed position in response to urging the protruding portion of the trip latch toward the rotatable body. The latching mechanism may also include a spring coupled to the release shaft that urges the release button to a non-depressed position. The latching mechanism may also include a spring coupled to the protruding portion of the trip-latch that urges the trip-latch to protrude from the body. A non-protruding portion of the trip-latch may engage the holding edge.

Latching mechanism

A cover interlock mechanism for drawer in a rack enclosure includes a first protrusion and a second protrusion coupled to opposing sides of the drawer, the protrusions being urged outward from the drawer, at least one structural component of the rack enclosure that engages the protrusions to prevent the drawer from being inserted into the rack enclosure, and a cover for the drawer having cavities that align with the protrusions when the cover is placed on the drawer to urge the protrusions toward the drawer to allow the drawer to be inserted into the rack enclosure. The protrusions may be urged outward from the drawer by flexible members attached to the drawer. The flexible members may be attached to bottom portions of sides of the drawer. The structural component may be a rail of the rack enclosure. The rail may be part of the framework of the rack enclosure.

Cover interlock mechanism

A multi-piece storage shuttle for removeably securing a storage device within an enclosure assembly includes a stationary shuttle portion rigidly affixed to the enclosure assembly. A moveable shuttle portion is slidably affixed to the enclosure assembly and is configured to releasably engage the storage device.

A spring-pulley system is configured for use within an IT component and includes a cable assembly configured to electrically couple a fixed portion of an IT component to a slidable portion of the IT component. A pulley assembly is configured to engage the cable assembly. A spring assembly is configured to bias the pulley assembly toward a first position to absorb any slack in the cable assembly.

Cable management

An apparatus that may be used to facilitate securing or mounting of an assembly. The device may be constructed of a shaft and a torque managing device, where the shaft has two ends, the first end having an engagement portion. The torque managing device is coupled to the second end of the shaft having a portion of the torque managing device enabled to rotate independently from the shaft when a predetermined force used on the torque managing device has been met.

The present invention provides a computer system comprising an enclosure adapted to contain one or more printed circuit boards, the enclosure including a back plane having a recessed port for coupling a data communication cable to a printed circuit board, the recessed port including a receptacle adapter coupled to the printed circuit board adapted to receive a connector of the data communication cable, and a perpendicular clearance space for facilitating alignment of the connector of the data communication cable with the receptacle.

Method and system for coupling a cable connector to a circuit board

A filler bezel clip assembly for an electrical cabinet having a chassis mounting rail. The assembly includes: a bezel clip member for disposition on one surface of one of the rail; and, a wedge bracket member. The bezel clip member has: a slot; a hook for attachment to a bezel; and a first portion of a ratchet mechanism. The wedge bracket member is for insertion into the slot and includes: a tapered surface having a forward, narrower portion of the tapered surface for engaging an opposite surface of the rail; and a second portion of the ratchet mechanism for engagement with the first portion of a ratchet mechanism as the forward, portion of the tapered surface slides over the opposite surface of the rail during insertion of the wedge bracket member into the slot. The bezel clip member includes posts for insertion into round and square holes in the rail.

Universal filler-bezel clip assembly

An apparatus and system for facilitating access to one or more components mounted in a rack comprising a base member and at least one pivot mechanism mounting the base member to the rack. The apparatus facilitates access to the components by being pivotable downward for access to upper components and pivotable upward for access to lower components.

Cable management apparatus

A label holder for a chassis having: a frame having a window therein and a flat, label holding member disposed within the window. The label holding member includes an integrally formed: frontal handle portion projecting outwardly from an outer edge of the chassis; label mounting surface portion disposed rearward of the handle; and flexible, serpentine spring portion disposed between the label mounting surface portion and a rearward end portion of the label holding member. The label holding member slides forward and rearward within the window. The spring portion has a plurality of elongated members traversing sides of the frame and interconnected at edges thereof by curved interconnecting sections, and wherein material forming the interconnecting sections is reduced progressively from a rearward portion of the spring towards a frontal portion of the spring.

A compressible engagement assembly includes a latching assembly configured to releasably engage a rack assembly. A compressible member is configured to be compressed by the latching assembly when the latching assembly is releasably engaged with the rack assembly. The compressible member is further configured to engage a rackmount component removably positioned within the rack assembly.
