A surge protection device has a housing that is formed from a first lateral portion, a middle portion, and a second lateral portion that are connected together with a plurality of fasteners. The surge protection device includes an electronic apparatus having a neutral wire and further includes a housing that advantageously includes a strain relief that causes the neutral wire to frictionally engage the housing with sufficient friction to resist a predetermined tension applied to the free end or other portion of the neutral wire at the exterior of the housing from damaging an electrical connection between the neutral wire and a circuit board within an interior region of the surge protection device.

A circuit interrupter movable among ON, OFF, and TRIP positions includes a housing, a latch situated on the housing, a number of mechanisms situated on the housing, each mechanism of the number of mechanisms including a contact arm that is movable with respect to the housing, a set of separable contacts including a stationary contact and further including a movable contact situated on the contact arm, a handle, a pin, a first spring that extends between the contact arm and the handle in at least one of the OFF position and the ON position, a second spring that extends between the handle and the pin, and the pin being movable among a position engaged with the latch in at least one of the ON position and the OFF position and another position engaged with the handle in the TRIP position.

Circuit interrupter

A shunt trip assembly structured to be operatively coupled to a number of circuit breakers uses a lever to actuate an operating mechanism of the circuit breakers and uses a selectively powered solenoid to power the lever. The shunt trip assembly is composed from a standardized shunt assembly designed for use with a plurality of different solenoid coils, such that a given standardized shunt assembly will be operative regardless of which of the solenoid coils are added to the standardized shunt assembly. The shunt trip assembly requires less than 10 amps of current to operate; can be powered by any of a 12 volt AC/DC, 24 volt AC/DC, or 48 volt AC/DC power source; and is functional in temperatures ranging from &#x2212;40&#xb0; C. to +60&#xb0; C.

A movable arm is for a movable arm assembly of an electrical switching apparatus. The movable arm assembly includes a first separable contact. The electrical switching apparatus has a housing, an operating handle coupled to the housing, and a second separable contact located internal the housing and being structured to engage the first separable contact. The movable arm includes a first arm member structured to be coupled to the first separable contact; and a second arm member coupled to the first arm member, the second arm member being structured to be coupled to the operating handle. The first arm member is made from a first copper material and the second arm member is made from a second, different copper material.

Circuit breakers with a metal arc chute having a base and sidewalls extending outward from the base forming an open cavity, a movable arm holding a movable contact adjacent to the arc chute, a line conductor electrically connected to a stationary contact residing adjacent to the arc chute facing the movable contact and a overlay material of reduced electrical conductivity attached to the arc chute and residing in the cavity of the arc chute between the stationary and movable contacts. The overlay material can be a solid three-dimensional shaped insert/molded member with a cavity and/or an overmolded material directly attached to the metal arc chute.
