In one embodiment, an enterprise network is provided that includes a mobility moduleassociated with a first or second switch/serveror, respectively. On the second switch/server, the mobility agent manages a pool of mobility user station records-and creates visitor application records-associated with a external subscriber communication devices-. Each visitor application record is associated with a subscriber whose communication device is controlled by the first switch/server. In response to a selected stimulus, outgoing call processing for selected communication devices on the first switch/server is moved to the second switch/serverby associating, for each such device, a selected recordwith a corresponding record

In one embodiment, an enterprise network is provided that includes a mobility agentassociated with a switch/serveror. The mobility agent creates a visitor application recordassociated with a second communication device. The visitor application record is associated with a first subscriber. A second subscriber is normally associated with the second communication device, and the first subscriber with a first communication device. In response to creating the visitor application record, the native communication device record is associated with a virtual communication device having the same public and/or private numbers as the second communication device

The present invention is directed to the maintenance of call signaling information in connection with realtime communications established using a packet data network. According to the present invention, call state information related to a realtime communication is provided by a call controller to an interconnected client. The client stores the call state information. In the event of a failure of a call signaling channel between the call controller and the client or in the event of a failure of the call controller, the client may establish contact with an alternate call controller, and may provide the call state information that has been stored on the client to the alternate call controller. The alternate call controller may then restore call features associated with the realtime communication.
