A system authenticates sound verbalized or otherwise generated by a live source within a monitored setting for voice-controlled or sound-controlled automation of a responsive process. One or more classifiers each generate a decision value according to values of predetermined signal features extracted from a captured digital stream, and a sound type classification is computed according to an aggregate score of a predetermined number of decision values. The actuation of the responsive process is authenticated when the system discriminately indicates the captured sound signals to be verbalized or generated by a live source. The responsive process is thereby suppressed when the sound is instead determined to be reproduced or otherwise previously transduced, for example by a transmission or recording.

System and method for source authentication in voice-controlled automation

Captured samples of a physical structure or other scene are mapped to a predetermined multi-dimensional coordinate space, and spatially-adjacent samples are organized into array cells representing subspaces thereof. Each cell is classified according to predetermined target-identifying criteria for the samples of the cell. A cluster of spatially-contiguous cells of common classification, peripherally bounded by cells of different classification, is constructed, and a boundary demarcation is defined from the peripheral contour of the cluster. The boundary demarcation is overlaid upon a visual display of the physical scene, thereby visually demarcating the boundaries of a detected target of interest.

A method and system are provided for parallactically synced acquisition of images about a common target from mutually displaced imaging positions. At least first and second imaging devices are disposed respectively at first and second imaging positions. The first imaging device is actuated to acquire a first image with a target of interest disposed at a predetermined relative position within a field of view thereof. The second imaging device is actuated to acquire a second image with the target of interest disposed within a field of view thereof. A target feature finder is executed in a processer to detect the target of interest within the second image. A plurality of user prompts are generated at the second imaging device responsive to detection of the target of interest in the second image. The user prompts include: visual indicia adaptively applied to the second image to visually distinguish the target of interest, and orientation correction alerts adaptively generated to guide angular displacement of the second imaging device to situate the target of interest at the predetermined relative position within its field of view.

Method and system for parallactically synced acquisition of images about common target

A system and method are provided for taxonomically distinguishing grouped segments of signal data captured in unconstrained manner for a plurality of sources. The system comprises a vector unit constructing for each of the grouped signal data segments at least one vector of predetermined form. A sparse decomposition unit selectively executes in at least a training system mode a simultaneous sparse approximation upon a joint corpus of vectors for a plurality of signal segments of distinct sources. The sparse decomposition unit adaptively generates at least one sparse decomposition for each vector with respect to a representative set of decomposition atoms. A discriminant reduction unit executes during the training system mode to derive an optimal combination of atoms from the representative set. A classification unit executes in a classification system mode to discover for an input signal segment a degree of correlation relative to each of the distinct sources.

System and method for taxonomically distinguishing unconstrained signal data segments

A system and method are provided for discriminating and tracking a coherently structured feature dynamically defined in evolving manner within a migratory medium. A data set is captured for a plurality of physical points defined within a multi-dimensional physical space, in terms of a plurality of scalar parameter values. At least one pre-selected target feature type is established, as is a scalar field predefined by at least one of the scalar parameters. A sparse set of key points is selectively generated a within the scalar field. Each key point is associated with one of the physical points and descriptive information adaptively determined therefor from the data content within a neighborhood of the physical point coinciding therewith. At least one predetermined feature-based operation is executed responsive to the descriptive information of the key points as a surrogate for execution generally on the data set.

System and method for tracking coherently structured feature dynamically defined with migratory medium

A system is provided for event-based monitoring of a subject's well-being within an unattended setting. A plurality of sensors are disposed within the setting for sensing disparate events, and an analytics processing portion is coupled to the sensors to collectively acquire sensing data therefrom, and map a plurality of sensed data points for a selected combination of disparate events to a conduct adaptively characterized for the subject. The mapping occurs according to a set of pre-established reference event patterns, relative to which each characterized conduct is screened for excessive aberration. The analytics processing portion actuates generation of a graphic user interface displaying at least one reporting page. The reporting page contains for each characterized conduct certain graphic indicia determined responsive to the screening thereof. At least one wirelessly coupled monitoring device actuates responsive to the analytics processing portion to render the graphic user interface for a remotely monitoring user.

A system is provided for adaptively conformed imaging of work pieces having disparate configurations, which comprises a mount unit for holding at least one work piece, and an imaging unit for capturing images of the work piece held by the mount unit. At least one manipulator unit is coupled to selectively manipulate at least one of the mount and imaging units for relative displacement therebetween. A controller coupled to automatically actuate the manipulator and imaging units executes scene segmentation about the held work piece, which spatially defines at least one zone of operation in peripherally conformed manner about the work piece. The controller also executes an acquisition path mapping for the work piece, wherein a sequence of spatially offset acquisition points are mapped within the zone of operation, with each acquisition point defining a vantage point for the imaging unit to capture an image of the work piece from.

System and method for adaptively conformed imaging of work pieces having disparate configuration

A system and method are provided for distinguishing between a plurality of remote sites accessed through a network interconnection by a reference site based upon envelope characteristics of communication signals transmitted therebetween. Communications signals transmitted during an interconnected session established between one of the remote sites and the reference site are time-captured in a plurality of data segments. The time-captured segments are parsed to selectively generate for each the interconnected remote sites an envelope signal indicative of at least one resource allocation response thereof during the interconnection session, the envelope signal being defined by values of at least a first predetermined envelope parameter acquired from the time-captured segments. Based on the envelope signal, a characteristic signature is established for each interconnected remote site to be identified. Newly-captured communication signal segments are thereby classified in remote site origination based on the characteristic signatures of identified remote sites.

A watchdog unit receives stay-alive signals from a programming device during programming of an implantable medical device. The watchdog unit maintains a watchdog timer, and resets the timer upon receipt of each stay-alive signal. If the watchdog timer expires, the watchdog unit changes a mode of operation of the implantable device, e.g., places the implantable medical device into a known, safe state. For example, the watchdog unit may cause the implantable medical device to suspend delivery of therapy, perform a power-on reset, and/or recall a known, safe, therapy delivery program.

Failsafe programming of implantable medical devices

A system and method for aiming and alignment of a shell firing weapon includes a portable aiming unit that may be located in close proximity to the weapon that includes a reference head for emitting and/or receiving at least one energy ray. The portable aiming unit can be aligned to a reference azimuth, either absolute or relative. A sighting unit is also included in the system and removably mounted to the weapon. The sighting unit includes a reference head that is complementary to the reference head of the portable aiming unit. The at least one energy ray established between the portable aiming unit and the sighting unit provides an accurate relative reference of directing the weapons fire and monitoring linear and angular displacement of the weapon as it is fired so that corrections can be made in aiming the weapon in response thereto.
