A battery pack that is connectable to and supportable by a power tool (e.g., a hand-held power tool). The battery pack includes a top housing having a support member. The support member of the battery pack top housing is configured or operable to reinforce a support portion of the battery pack that is used to connect the battery pack to the power tool. By reinforcing the support portion of the battery pack, an interface between the battery pack and the power tool is able to withstand greater forces (e.g., from vibrations caused by the power tool).

A power tool including a housing that has a battery pack receiving portion configured to receive an interface of a battery pack, device contacts extending from the housing and configured to mechanically and electrically engage with the battery pack, and a latching mechanism supported by the housing and including an actuator and a latch member configured to selectively engage the interface of the battery pack. The actuator is pivotable to operatively pivot the latch member.

Locking mechanism for a battery pack on a portable electric device

A power tool includes a housing, a motor positioned substantially within the housing, a drive mechanism supported by the housing and coupled to the motor, a battery pack electrically coupled to the motor, and an isolation system. The isolation system includes an interface member positioned substantially within the housing. The interface member receives a portion of the battery pack to electrically couple the battery pack to the motor. The isolation system also includes a plurality of isolators coupled between the housing and the interface member to isolate the battery pack from the housing during operation of the power tool.

A power tool including a housing, a controller within the housing, and a brushless motor within the housing and controlled by the controller. The brushless motor including a stator assembly including a stator core having stator laminations with an annular portion and inwardly extending stator teeth. The stator assembly defines a stator envelope in an axial direction extending between axial ends of stator end caps of the stator assembly. The brushless motor further includes a rotor assembly including a rotor core having rotor laminations and defining a central aperture that extends in the axial direction and that receives a shaft, and a position sensor board assembly including position sensors and configured to provide position information of the rotor core to the controller. The rotor assembly and the position sensor board assembly are provided at least partially within the stator envelope.

Brushless motor for a power tool

A power tool with an impact mechanism and that is controlled based on a drive angle from impacting. The power tool includes a housing, a brushless direct current (DC) motor within the housing, an impact mechanism, and an output drive device. The brushless DC motor includes a rotor coupled to a motor shaft to produce a rotational output. The impact mechanism includes a hammer coupled to the motor shaft, and an anvil that receives impacts from the hammer and drives an output device. The power tool further includes a position sensor that senses a position of the rotor and a controller coupled to the position sensor. The controller detects an impact of the impact mechanism, calculates a drive angle of the anvil caused by the impact based on output from the position sensor, and controls the brushless DC motor based on the drive angle.

System and method for configuring a power tool with an impact mechanism

An oscillating power tool includes a housing, a motor, a tool holder driven oscillatingly, a flange threadedly coupled to a plunger, and a lever pivotable between a clamping position and a release position. The flange is configured to be movable in an axial direction. The flange is configured to clamp the output element onto the tool holder in the clamping position and configured to be displaced a first distance from the tool holder in the release position. The lever includes a cam surface including a substantially flat surface configured to engage the plunger in the release position. In the release position, a gap is disposed between the lever and the housing to allow the lever to be rotated past the release position. The lever is configured to displace the flange a second distance from the tool holder, larger than the first distance, when rotated past the release position.

Oscillating multi-tool system

An air compressor includes a compressor assembly with a motor and a pump driven by the motor, a battery receptacle, and a battery pack electrically connected to the motor via the battery receptacle for providing electrical power to the motor. The battery receptacle and the battery pack are positioned adjacent the compressor assembly. The compressor also includes a storage tank that receives compressed air from the pump, a case enshrouding the compressor assembly, an outlet port in fluid communication with the storage tank, and an adjustable pressure regulator at least partially positioned within the case. The outlet port configured to discharge compressed air from the storage tank at a regulated pressure determined by the pressure regulator. The compressor further includes an adjustment knob to adjust the regulated pressure of compressed air provided by the outlet port. The case attenuates noise emitted by the compressor assembly to less than 68 decibels.

Portable air compressor

A power tool includes a housing, a motor positioned within the housing, and an impulse assembly coupled to the motor to receive torque therefrom. The impulse assembly includes a cylinder at least partially forming a chamber containing a hydraulic fluid, an anvil positioned at least partially within the chamber, and a hammer positioned at least partially within the chamber. The hammer includes a first side facing the anvil and a second side opposite the first side. The impulse assembly further includes a biasing member biasing the hammer towards the anvil, and a valve movable between a first position that permits a first fluid flow rate of the hydraulic fluid in the chamber from the second side to the first side, and a second position that permits a second fluid flow rate of the hydraulic fluid in the chamber from the first side to the second side.

Impulse driver

An accessory for an oscillating power tool that oscillatingly drives a removably attachable output element. The accessory includes an attachment portion configured to be removably attached to a housing of the oscillating power tool on a side of the output element that faces the housing. The attachment portion is at least partially annular and defines an axial opening therethrough. The attachment portion includes a circumferential inner surface defining the axial opening and a circumferential outer surface opposite the inner surface. The attachment portion is configured to snap-fit with the power tool housing.

A powered ratchet tool includes a housing and an output member. The output member has an inner opening, an outer toothed surface, and an output member aperture extending through the outer toothed surface to the inner opening. The powered ratchet tool further includes a drive mechanism for driving the output member. The drive mechanism includes a yoke in which the output member is arranged. The yoke has a yoke aperture. The powered ratchet tool further includes a first pawl in the yoke that is biased toward the toothed surface of the output member and a second pawl in the yoke that is biased toward the toothed surface of the output member. When the output member is in a home position, the first pawl and the second pawl are engaged with the toothed surface of the output member and the output member aperture is aligned with the yoke aperture.
