A method to prevent corrosion of a susceptible article of a two-article system, in which first and second articles of the two-article system have surfaces facing one another and in which the two articles have different anodic indices includes applying a coating material to the surface of the first article and curing the coating material on the surface of the first article. The method further includes contacting and securing the surface of the first article with the surface of the second article. The two articles exhibit substantially no corrosion following exposure to a corrosive environment under standard GMW17026 for a 15 year simulated test.

Articles having thermoset coatings and coating methods

A fastener sealing material for application to fasteners is formulated from an acrylate present in a concentration of about 90 to about 97 percent by weight of the sealing material and a nanostructured material present in a concentration of about 3 to about 10 percent by weight of the sealing material. The sealant is applied to the fastener as a liquid and is cured using an ultraviolet or LED light source and without the use of heat.

A chemical anchoring assembly useful for fast application of a driving tool into a borehole includes an elongated tube having a first end and a second end, a quantity of chemical anchoring material within the elongated tube, and a vent at the second end of the elongated tube. As an anchor pin is driven through the elongated tube and into the borehole, forcing the chemical anchoring material into the borehole, some of the pressure caused by compression of the chemical anchoring material is released into the vent, allowing easier driving of the anchor pin.

A fiber optic cable connector coupling medium disposable in an axial bore of a connector sleeve member for coupling a fiber optic cable end portion to a light transmitting conductor member. The coupling medium has a resilient generally disk shaped portion having first and second convex end portions engageable with a corresponding one of the fiber optic cable end portion and conductor member in the axial bore of a sleeve member. The coupling medium has good optical clarity, low hardness and tackiness to provide an improved light transmission coupling. The coupling medium is also relatively thin and has substantially the same refractive index as a fiber optic cable end portion and a conductor member between which the coupling medium is disposed.

Fiber optic lighting system connector coupling medium

A fiber optic lighting system connector for coupling a fiber optic cable to another fiber optic cable, or a light source, or a light fixture. The connector includes a sleeve member having a plurality of resilient fingers and an axial bore for receiving a fiber optic cable end portion. A cap is non-threadably coupled to the sleeve member and movable axially about the resilient fingers between first and second positions to constrict the resilient fingers about a fiber optic cable end portion or conductor member for axial retention thereof in the axial bore. The resilient fingers preferably include first and second recesses in corresponding side portions thereof, and a tooth disposed between and offset from the first and second recesses.

The doctor portion of the ink cup of a pad printing machine is formed of a polymeric composite which has high compressive strength and high resistance to chemicals, notably to printing inks. The polymeric doctoring portion is tapered and defines a narrow distal end surface which circumscribes the open end of the cup for doctoring engagement with an opposed plastic gravure surface. The doctoring portion may be a separate ring element suitably mounted at the open end of the cup body or it may be a unitary part of the cup.

Ink cups for pad printing machines

A plural compartment package for housing and storing at least two different materials which are to be mixed together so as to form a compound mixture at the time of use comprises first, second, and third sheets of film material with the third sheet of film interposed between the first and second sheets of film. The three sheets of film material have substantially the same length and width dimensions and are peripherally sealed to each other such that the peripheral seal of the package comprises a three-layer laminate. In addition, the third intermediate sheet of film is secured at a mid-point thereof to one of the first and second sheets of film such that three compartments are formed within the package. The third sheet of film material is provided with easily rupturable perforations so as to facilitate discharge of one material from one compartment into another compartment for mixture with the second material, rupture occurring as a result of pressure applied to the package. A non-porous, rupturable cap overlies the rupturable perforations so as to prevent premature discharge of the first material from the first compartment into the second compartment for mixture with the second material. The pressurizing forces may be concentrated by V-shaped heat-sealed regions, and in addition, an end portion of the package may be torn off so as to define a dispensing spout for the compound mixture.

Plural compartment package

A rotary atomizer includes an inside surface onto which a coating material is deposited, an opposite outside surface and a discharge zone adjacent the rotary atomizer's inside and outside surfaces, coating material being discharged from the discharge zone. A housing substantially surrounds and houses the rotary atomizer except for a region of the rotary atomizer adjacent and including the discharge zone. The housing includes an inside surface, an outside surface and an opening adjacent the inside and outside surfaces of the housing. The inside surface of the housing and the outside surface of the rotary atomizer are treated so as to render them electrically non-insulative. An electrostatic potential difference maintained across the electrically non-insulative inside surface of the housing and an article to be coated by material atomized by the rotary atomizer causes charge to be transferred from the electrically non-insulative inside surface of the housing to the outside surface of the atomizer.

Nonincendive rotary atomizer

The present invention is a package for housing and mixing two materials, such as epoxy resin and polyamine adduct, together to form an adhesive. Two sheets are joined together to form the outer periphery of the bag. A third sheet is secured between the outer sheets and divides the package into two compartments. One compartment includes a line of perforation holes that are easily ruptured when a user applies pressure to the external area of the compartment. A cap covers the perforation holes so that the material contained within the rupturable bag will not leak into the other compartment. When the one compartment is ruptured, the adduct that is contained therein is released into the other compartment and mixes with the resin. After the two materials are completely mixed the adhesive is ready for use.

A powder coating booth and a construction method therefor comprise a pair of inflatable polymer walls defining between them a booth inner space, a booth entry end and a booth exit end, and supporting the inflatable walls in spaced orientation to define between them the booth inner space. A mechanism is provided between the walls for recovery of powder which does not adhere to articles conveyed through the booth inner space. The polymer walls comprise one or more cells. The step of providing the polymer walls comprises inflating the cells. The method also includes the step of covering the cells with a sheet of polymer film forming an envelope for the cells. Illustratively, the cells comprise a layer of bubble packaging material. Alternatively, the polymer walls comprise thermoformed cores and a polymer film envelope enveloping each core and closed to provide suitable inflation of each wall. Illustratively, the inflatable walls are supported in spaced orientation by a conventional powder spray booth. The inflatable walls are mounted to inside walls of the conventional spray booth by, for example, synthetic hook and eyelet material.
