An apparatus configured to manage the temperature of a sensor module is provided. The apparatus includes a vehicle, a sensor module disposed on top of the vehicle, a solar panel disposed on top of the sensor module, and a gap between the sensor module and solar panel, the gap configured to direct airflow from a front of the vehicle to exit behind the sensor module or the solar panel, the airflow functioning to cool the sensor module or the solar panel.

Apparatus and method that manage sensor module temperature

A method for controlling a thermal comfort control system for ride share vehicles includes providing a plurality of occupant seats in a vehicle cabin and controlling a cabin set temperature using a cabin comfort control system configured to adjust a plurality of HVAC functions. At least one thermal comfort parameter is adjusted at a number of the plurality of occupant seats using at least one seat comfort control system. Adjusting the at least one thermal comfort parameter causes the cabin control module to adjust the set temperature of the vehicle cabin.

Method for controlling a thermal comfort control system for ride share vehicles

A coolant system and method of operating the coolant system for a vehicle having a battery pack is disclosed. A method may include detecting a mountain grade descent condition; detecting a battery limit condition; and, if the mountain grade descent condition and the battery limit condition are detected, activating a coolant heater and a coolant pump to thereby accomplish an electric load shed. A method may include detecting a fuel cell stack warm up condition; and, if the fuel cell stack warm up condition is detected, activating a fuel cell coolant heater, a cabin coolant heater and a pump, and directing a coolant flowing through the cabin coolant heater through the fuel cell coolant heater and through a fuel cell stack to thereby warm the fuel cell stack.

Coolant systems for electric and hybrid-electric vehicles

A vehicle-integrated water harvesting system is provided that enables water-vapor or condensation in a vehicle to be captured, and made available onboard the vehicle for drinking or other uses. The system includes a water emitting component and may include a purification system operatively connected to the water emitting component. The purification system at least partially purifies the water and then sends the purified water to a storage reservoir or directly to a dispenser or outlet.

An apparatus for the recovery of energy from regenerative braking events in a vehicle is provided. A braking system is configured to selectively transmit energy from a wheel to the compressor of a heat pump/refrigerant loop. The apparatus may store recovered energy in the heat capacity of a coolant fluid to assist powertrain heating or cooling.

A system for controlling fluid flow about a vehicle. The system comprises a fluid flow control device, an obstacle sensor for detecting obstacles, and a controller. The fluid flow control device has a body with at least one surface and an actuation means in operative communication with the surface. The actuation means is operative to alter at least one attribute of the fluid flow control device in response to a control signal. The controller has control logic for generating the control signal in response to the obstacle sensor.
