A data acquisition system can include a central controller to provide a data acquisition signal. The data acquisition system can also include a cabinet to receive the data acquisition signal. The cabinet can have an array of modules installed therein. The cabinet can include a backplane connected to each module of the array of modules. The backplane can provide a status request signal to a given module in the array of modules if the given module is assigned a module address identified by the data acquisition signal. The given module can provide status data characterizing an operational status of the given module in response to the status request.

Data acquisition

A data acquisition system can include a central controller to provide a data acquisition system signal. The data acquisition system can also include a cabinet to receive the data acquisition system signal. The cabinet can have an array of modules installed therein. The cabinet can include a backplane connected to each module of the array of modules. The backplane can provide a status request signal to a given module in the array of modules if the given module is assigned a module address identified by the data acquisition system signal. The given module can provide status data characterizing an operational status of the given module in response to the status request.

An RF power amplifier control system is presented herein. The system includes a group of power amplifier modules for amplifying an RF signal. Each group includes first and second group controllers for, when on, controlling the operation of the power amplifier modules including turning on and turning off each of the modules within the group. The first group controller is normally on for controlling the amplifier operation and the second group controller is turned on for controlling the operation only when the first controller is turned off. First and second central controllers are provided for, when on, controlling the operation of the first and second group controllers. The first central controller is normally on to provide the control operation and the second central controller monitors the operation of the first controller and performs the control operation in the event that the first central controller malfunctions.

RF power amplifier control system

An RF power amplifier is presented herein including an RF source for providing a train of RF pulses having a fixed frequency and wherein each pulse is of a fixed amplitude and duration. A bridge circuit includes a first circuit having a first transistor switching means for, when on, connecting a DC voltage source across a load for DC current flow therethrough in a first direction. The bridge circuit includes a second circuit including a second transistor switch for, when on, connecting the DC voltage source across the load for DC current flow therethrough in a second direction. A switch driver control serves, when enabled, to pass the RF pulses for driving the first and second transistor switches on and off at a frequency dependent upon that of the RF signal and in such a manner that current from the DC voltage source alternately flows in the first and second directions through the load. Turn-on signals are provided and selectively applied to the switch driver control for enabling the switch driver control for passing the RF pulses to the transistor switches.

RF power amplifier system having an improved drive system

An amplifier system is disclosed having improved distortion reduction. This system includes a DC voltage source having AC and DC components. An input signal to be amplified is supplied to an amplifier coupled to a DC voltage source for amplifying the input signal to provide an output signal in accordance therewith. Correction signal circuitry is provided including circuitry for separating the AC and DC components and varying the magnitude and phase of the AC component independently of the DC component to provide an adjusted AC component. The DC component and the adjusted AC component are summed together to provide an adjusted correction signal which is then combined with the input signal prior to application of the input signal to the amplifier.

Distortion correction for an amplifier system

An RF power amplifier system is disclosed having a modulated voltage supply and fault monitoring thereof. The modulated DC voltage supply receives an input voltage as well as a modulating signal, such as an audio signal, to provide a modulated voltage which has been amplitude modulated in accordance with the amplitude variations of the modulating signal. Circuitry is provided for providing a variable reference signal which has a magnitude that varies with that of the modulating signal. A fault comparator compares the modulated signal with the variable reference signal and provides a fault signal dependent upon the comparison.
