Systems, methods, and computer software are disclosed for determining a shape of a radiation field generated by a radiation delivery system through the use of a scintillator and a camera that is configured to acquire images of light emitted by the scintillator during delivery of a radiation beam. A support structure may be mounted to the radiation delivery system and the scintillator and camera may be fixed to the support structure such that the scintillator is not perpendicular to the axis of the radiation beam. An edge detection algorithm may be applied to radiation patterns present in the camera images in order to determine the location of an edge of a leaf of a multi-leaf collimator.

Scintillator-based radiation therapy quality assurance

Systems, methods, and computer software are disclosed for receiving a video stream and acquiring images capturing at least a portion of a shape representative of a radiation field generated by a radiation delivery system that includes a radiation source configured to deliver the radiation beam, the acquired images extracted from the video stream.

A method for radiation therapy treatment verification includes acquiring: treatment plan information from a radiation therapy system; patient image data; and transit image data received from an electronic portal imaging device during radiation therapy. The treatment plan information is divided into a plurality of segments. Predicted segment image data is determined utilizing a predicted image calculation algorithm and at least the patient image data and the treatment plan information. A predicted integrated image is determined through superposition of the predicted segment image data. Measured segment responses are determined from the transit image data utilizing the predicted segment image data and the predicted integrated image. The measured segment responses are converted to measured segment doses. A measured dose map having a sum of the measured segment doses is compared to a planned dose map based on the treatment plan information to assess radiation treatment delivery.

Radiation therapy treatment verification with electronic portal imaging device transit images

A method for radiation therapy treatment verification includes, acquiring treatment plan information from a radiation therapy system, patient image data, and transit image data received from an electronic portal imaging device during radiation therapy. The treatment plan information is divided into a plurality of segments. Predicted segment image data is determined utilizing a predicted image calculation algorithm and at least the patient image data and the treatment plan information. Radiation therapy dose calculation methods, systems and computer program products, for use with a treatment delivery device for treating a patient and utilizing a scattered radiation detector in making independent dose calculations. The scattered radiation detector is configured to acquire measurement information during patient treatment, which is used to determine an estimate of the output of the treatment delivery device. Other information is acquired including patient imaging data, gantry angle information and collimator position information utilized during patient treatment. The acquired information is utilized along with the treatment delivery device output estimate to determine dose delivered to the patient.

Radiation therapy dose calculation

Data from a first radiation detector and a second radiation detector can be used to determine a radiation dose pattern delivered to a radiation target from a radiation source. The first radiation detector can be positioned to intercept ionizing radiation directed from the radiation source toward the radiation target before the ionizing radiation has impinged on the radiation target and the second radiation detector can be positioned to intercept the ionizing radiation after the ionizing radiation has passed through the radiation target. Methods, systems, articles of manufacture, and computer program products are described.
