A compressor includes a compression mechanism, a motor, a drive shaft, and a motor cooler. The compressor is configured to compress a working fluid. The motor dives the compression mechanism and is housed within a motor housing. The drive shaft is engaged with the motor and the compression mechanism and is configured to drive operation of the compression mechanism. The motor cooler is disposed adjacent the motor and is configured to pump a cooling working fluid around the motor. The motor cooler includes a pump that pumps the cooling working fluid into the motor housing based on a rotational speed of the drive shaft.

A compressor includes a shell, a muffler plate, first and second scroll members, and first and second sealing members. The shell defines first and second pressure regions separated by the muffler plate. The first scroll member includes a first end plate and a first scroll wrap. The first end plate defines an annular recess and a discharge recess. The discharge recess is in communication with the first pressure region. The second scroll member includes a second end plate and a second scroll wrap. The second scroll wrap meshingly engages the first scroll wrap to define a compression chamber therebetween. The first sealing member is at least partially disposed in the discharge passage and fluidly separates the first and second pressure regions from each other. The second sealing member is at least partially disposed in the annular recess.

A compressor may include first and second scrolls, and an axial biasing chamber. Spiral wraps of the scrolls mesh with each other and form compression pockets including a suction-pressure compression pocket, a discharge-pressure compression pocket, and intermediate-pressure compression pockets. The axial biasing chamber may be disposed axially between the second end plate and a component. Working fluid disposed within the axial biasing chamber may axially bias the second scroll toward the first scroll. The second end plate includes outer and inner ports. The outer port is disposed radially outward relative to the inner port. The outer port may be open to a first one of the intermediate-pressure compression pockets and in selective fluid communication with the axial biasing chamber. The inner port may be open to a second one of the intermediate-pressure compression pockets and in selective fluid communication with the axial biasing chamber.

Compressor having capacity modulation assembly

A compressor according to the present disclosure includes a shell, a main bearing housing disposed within the shell, a driveshaft supported by the main bearing housing, a non-orbiting scroll member coupled to the main bearing housing, and an orbiting scroll member rotatably coupled to the driveshaft and meshingly engaged with the non-orbiting scroll member. The non-orbiting scroll member forms a suction pocket and at least one circumferential groove. The orbiting scroll member forms a lubricant passage that delivers lubricant from a lubricant source directly to at least one of the suction pocket and the at least one circumferential groove.

A compressor may include a non-orbiting scroll, an orbiting scroll, a drive shaft, a bearing housing and an annular seal. The non-orbiting scroll includes a first spiral wrap. The orbiting scroll includes an end plate having a second spiral wrap ending from a first side of the end plate and an annular hub extending from a second side of the end plate. The first and second spiral wraps cooperate to compress working fluid from a suction pressure to a discharge pressure. The drive shaft includes a crankpin received in the hub and drives the orbiting scroll. The bearing housing rotatably supports the drive shaft and may define a biasing chamber containing working fluid biasing the orbiting scroll toward the non-orbiting scroll in an axial direction. The annular seal may engage a diametrical surface of the hub and engage the bearing housing, thereby defining the biasing chamber.

A compressor may include a compressor housing, an oil sump, an intake chamber, a compression mechanism, a drive shaft, and a first oil passage. The oil sump may be in communication with the compression mechanism. The intake chamber may be defined within the housing. The drive shaft may include first and second ends with an oil inlet passage located therebetween. The first end may be disposed within the intake chamber and may be drivingly engaged with the compression mechanism. The second end may extend outside of the housing for driven engagement external to the housing. The oil inlet passage may be located within the intake chamber. The first oil passage may be disposed within the housing and in communication with the oil sump and the oil inlet passage.

A connector block assembly has a connector block and a plurality of end fittings which are attached to at least one wire. Each end fitting is secured to the connector block by being inserted into the connector block and then being rotated to trap the end fitting within the connector pin. Once assembled onto a conductor pin, the conductor pin prohibits rotation of the end fitting with respect to the connector block and thus the disassembly of the end fitting from the connector block.

A compressor assembly includes a shell which defines a discharge chamber. A discharge valve assembly is attached to the shell in communication with the discharge chamber. The discharge valve assembly includes a stamped or coined valve seat, a drawn tubular element and a stamped valve member. The stamping, drawing and coining operations used to manufacture the discharge valve assembly significantly reduce the manufacturing costs for the discharge valve assembly.

Discharge valve

A scroll-type refrigeration compressor is disclosed which incorporates an efficient, reliable, low cost modulation system employing a single actuator to effect switching between full and reduced capacity operation. The modulation system of the present invention includes an elongated member movably supported on the non-orbiting scroll which operates to ensure simultaneous opening and closing one or more unloading passages thus avoiding the possibility of even transient pressure imbalances between opposed compression pockets during operation of the compressor. In one embodiment, the elongated member has the opposite ends interconnected by springs and is rotatably movable to effect the intended modulation. In another embodiment, the elongated member is movable generally along a radial line of the non-orbiting scroll member. Further, the modulation system of the present invention provides for reduced capacity at both start up and shut down thus enabling the use of more efficient lower starting torque motors and reducing the potential for noise generating reverse rotation on shut down.

An improved capacity modulation system for scroll-type compressors is disclosed in which a valve body of a solenoid valve assembly is secured to the inner wall of the hermetic shell and the actuating coil is mounted on the outer surface thereof. The actuating coil includes a plunger/valve member which cooperates with passages provided in the valve body to selectively actuate the capacity modulation arrangement utilizing compressed fluid. The construction offers the advantage that all fluid pressure lines are located within the hermetic shell and thus protected from potential damage, the solenoid coil may be easily changed/replaced to accommodate different available operating voltages and/or malfunction thereof and the system can be easily tested prior to final welding of the outer shell.

A scroll-type compressor having a capacity modulation system of the delayed suction type is disclosed which incorporates a valving ring rotatably supported on one of the scroll members. Seals are provided acting between the valving ring and scroll member which serve to effect a fluid tight sealing relationship therebetween when the compressor is operating in a full capacity mode thus reducing the need for maintaining tight tolerances during manufacture of the valving ring.
