Disclosed herein is a safety valve with a chemical injection configuration. The device includes a hydraulic fluid pressure operated piston at the housing. The device further includes a flow tube in operable communication with the piston and a chemical injection configuration disposed within the housing. Further disclosed herein is a method of maintaining the operation of a safety valve by injecting chemical fluid through a configuration within the safety valve. Still further disclosed herein is check valve. The check valve includes a seal, a dart having a closed head and sealable against the seal, one or more flutes on the dart, and a spring applying a biasing force to the dart to a sealing position, that force being overcomeable by a fluid pressure acting in a direction opposing the spring force.

Chemical injection check valve incorporated into a tubing retrievable safety valve

The annulus pressure is controlled by displacing incompressible fluid with compressible fluid in the annulus. The displaced fluid is filtered to avoid clogging small lines. The presence of compressible fluid minimizes the thermal effect of warm fluid in the production tubing on annulus pressure. As a result, thinner wall casing can be used, for considerable savings in material and installation cost.

Annulus pressure control system for subsea wells

A control system for a subsurface safety valve (SSV) comprising of a control line from the surface in fluid communication with the top side of an actuating piston which moves a flow tube downwardly to open the SSV. A balance line runs from the surface to the bottom side of the same actuating piston to put the actuating piston in pressure balance. A buildup of pressure in the control line overcomes a return spring to open the valve, while removal of pressure from the control line allows the return spring to close the valve. Seals and leakpaths are provided through the actuating piston so that, depending on the hydrostatic pressure in the control line and the size of the return spring, the various failure modes of the actuating piston seals and control line or balance line will preferentially result in a fail-closed situation in the SSV.
