A tactical chemical detector may include a light array comprising a plurality of light sources; a sensor optic comprising a plurality of optic elements, each optic element in optical communication with one of the plurality of light sources; a sensor array comprising a plurality of sensors arranged on a substrate, each sensor in optical communication with one of the plurality of light sources and wherein at least one vent opening extends through the substrate; a power source configured to selectively provide power the light array and the sensor array; and a housing having a first side and a second side and enclosing the light array, the sensor optic, the sensor array, and the power source.

The systems and methods described herein relate to solid-state light sources capable of generating radiation beams for, but not limited to, the treatment of surfaces, bulk materials, films, and coatings. The solid-state ultraviolet source optically combines the light output of at least two and preferably as many four independently controllable discrete solid-state light emitters to produce a light beam that has a controllable multi-wavelength spectrum over a wide range of wavelengths (i.e. deep UV to near-IR). Specific features of this light source permit changes in the spectral, spatial and temporal distribution of light for use in curing, surface modification and other applications.

The invention is an apparatus and method for providing substantially uniform high peak irradiation of a three-dimensional object) with at least one curved surface (). The apparatus includes a source of light () for providing light to irradiate the at least one curved surface of the three-dimensional object; a first curved light reflector () which reflects and converges light from the source into a first converged light beam (); a second curved light reflector () which reflects and converges the first converged light beam into a second converged light beam () with the second light beam being redirected in direction relative to the first light beam toward a target area at which the three-dimensional object is positioned when being irradiated; and at least one light reflector () which extends from at least one of the first and second curved light reflectors which reflects and concentrates the second light beam toward the target area at which the three-dimensional object is positioned when being irradiated.

The invention is a process for radiant curing of a coating on a three-dimensional object. The process includes (a) providing a model of a radiant output of at least two lamps to be used to provide the radiant curing of the coating; (b) providing a model of at least one characteristic of a response of the coating to radiant curing; (c) selecting radiant output of the lamps based upon the model of the radiant output; and (d) defining at least a spatial position of the lamps during curing of the coating; (e) defining at least a spatial position of the three-dimensional object during curing of the coating; (f) simulating a radiant output of the at least two lamps based upon the defined spatial position of the lamps; (g) in response to the simulated radiant output and the defined spatial position of the three-dimensional object during curing of the coating, determining if a predicted radiant output of the at least two lamps on the three-dimensional object will acceptably cure the three-dimensional object; and (h) if the radiant output is acceptable, storing a number of the lamps, position of the lamps used in the model of the radiant output, the selected radiant output, and the defined position of the three-dimensional object.
