A power management system having: a core rail, configured to provide a core voltage to a core; a GT rail, configured to provide a GT voltage to a graphic terminal; and a VR thermal indicative pin, coupled to a core thermal indicative pin of the core; wherein the VR thermal indicative pin is pulled down for a preset time duration once the core rail is commanded to exit a PS4 state, or for a time duration beginning when the core rail is commanded to exit the PS4 state ending when the GT rail is commanded to exit the PS4 state.

System and method for standby mode operation of power management system

One embodiment provides an apparatus. The apparatus includes power control logic and a critical comparator. The power control logic is to determine a critical threshold (TC) based, at least in part, on an available input power value (Pin). The critical comparator is to compare a system power consumption value (Psys) and the critical threshold and to assert a processor critical throttle signal to a processor if the system power consumption value is greater than or equal to the critical threshold.

A method for correcting audible noise from a voltage regulator due to a change of a VID indicated by a series of VID commands. A VID difference between a current value and a target value of the VID is compared with a VID threshold when a VID command for changing the VID from the current value to the target value is received. The VID is held at the current value if the VID difference is larger than the VID threshold. And the VID command is executed if a holding duration for holding the VID at the current value expires and no new VID command for changing the VID is received before the expiration of the holding duration.
