A process for preparing an over molded motor stator structure comprises constructing a bobbin assembly; constructing an intermediate stator assembly including assembling the bobbin assembly to a stator core having an internal and external diameter; disposing the intermediate stator assembly into a mold fixture comprising a cover half and an ejector half that includes an inner ejector core and a moveable plate; loading a bearing carrier into the mold fixture; closing the cover half causing the moveable plate to travel within the mold; injecting a unitizing material into the mold fixture to encapsulate the intermediate stator assembly and form an over molded motor stator structure. The moveable plate travels within the mold fixture so as prevent coating of the stator laminations external diameter. A tight tolerance relationship between the inner ejector core and the stator lamination inner diameter prevents the internal diameter from being encapsulated by the unitizing material.

Process for preparing an over molded motor stator structure

A smart actuator and method includes an actuating device adapted to deliver a selected driving torque to a geartrain that is coupled to an output shaft and adapted to selectively convey the driving torque from the actuating device to the output shaft to achieve a selected shaft position. At least one logic and control device operates the various aspects of the smart actuator. The geartrain includes at least one locking gear including locking features defining a plurality of gear positions. A position lock solenoid is adapted to engage the locking gear at a selected gear position once the geartrain has achieved the selected shaft position on the output shaft. The position lock solenoid then holds the gear at the selected gear position. The actuating device is shut off after the position lock solenoid has engaged the locking gear thereby achieving and holding a high torque without driving a lot of current.

Low power, high torque actuator retention

A variable hysteresis module for use with an accelerator pedal with an electronic throttle control system for vehicles and the like includes a follower moveable along a back plate and urged by return springs against a cam actuator. The actuator acts against an angled side of the follower that resolves the pedal force on the actuator into a parallel component opposing the spring force and a normal component urging the follower against the back plate to develop friction that produces hysteresis. The hysteresis varies with the force of the return springs and so generally increases as the engine throttle is opened and decreases as the engine throttle is returned closed. If the spring force is reduced, the friction force is proportionally reduced. Other variations are also disclosed.

A crankcase breather for use in the air cleaner of the type used on an internal combustion engine is provided with a grooved, raised boss retainer portion on the outboard wall of the air filter container portion of the crankcase breather so as to encircle the nipple of the crankcase breather and the outer housing shell of the air cleaner is provided with a conforming aperture so that a part of the outer housing shell is received in the groove thus permitting the rest of the raised boss retainer portion to be snapped into locking engagement with the material edges defining the aperture.
