A device and method facilitates communication with a network-based service or application such as a Social Networking Service (SNS), for example. The device may be a cellular telephone that is not normally equipped to communicate with such services. However, a controller in the device selects a bearer service that can be used to communicate with the service.

A method of remotely activating a non-native IP multimedia subsystem (IMS) application of an electronic device. The method may include receiving at least one of a general IMS availability registration from the electronic device or a native IMS application registration from the electronic device; identifying the non-native IMS application using a database that associates IMS applications with corresponding electronic devices; transmitting an activation trigger for the non-native IMS application to the electronic device; and receiving an IMS application registration for the non-native IMS application and registering the non-native IMS application.

Method and system for triggering activation of IMS applications on a mobile radio terminal

A mobile terminal includes a processor operatively associated with a radio communications circuit and configured to store a podcast including an embedded link to content outside of the mobile terminal. The processor is further configured to control activation of the embedded link responsive to a communications status of the mobile terminal and/or a configuration of a user interface of the mobile terminal. For example, the communications status may include availability of communications between the mobile terminal and a storage location of the content, or presence of a particular call and/or a message. The user interface configuration may include, for example, a current display mode or physical arrangement of the terminal.

Mobile terminals, methods and computer program products incorporating podcast link activation control

A mobile terminal includes a housing, a first user interface located on a first face of the housing, a second user interface located on a second face of the housing different from the first face, and a controller within the housing and coupled to the first and second user interfaces. The second user interface includes a touch sensor configured to be used in tandem with the first user interface. The second user interface is positioned on the housing relative to the first user interface such that, when the mobile terminal is held in the user's hand, the first user interface is operable by a thumb and the second user interface is operable by a finger of the same hand. The first user interface is configured to receive a first user input, and the second user interface is configured to receive a second user input. The controller is configured to detect a combination of the received first and second user inputs, and is configured to perform a mobile terminal function associated with the detected combination responsive to detection of the combination. Mobile terminals including multiple user interfaces on different faces thereof configured to be used in tandem and related methods of operation

A wireless communications device that sends and receives presence status information is configured to detect when it is proximate a predefined zone. A receiver in the wireless communications device receives presence information from a transmitter associated with the predefined zone. The presence information defines a new presence status for the wireless communications device, and may include an indicator associated with the new presence status. Upon receipt of the presence information, a controller in the wireless communications device automatically changes the current presence status of the wireless communications device to the new presence status, and publishes the changed status to a remote entity. If the new presence status is not defined in memory, the controller may add the new presence status to memory.

Updating presence in a wireless communications device

A method and apparatus for facilitating group communications across multiple groups of wireless communication devices is described herein. A first wireless communication device is joined to a first group of wireless communication devices, and a second wireless communication device is joined to the first group and to a second group of wireless communication devices. When the first wireless communication device sets a retransmit indicator in a group message transmitted to the second wireless communication device, the second wireless communication device automatically retransmits the received group message to other wireless communication devices in the second group.
