A solenoid-actuated valve includes a solenoid portion extending along a longitudinal axis. The solenoid portion includes a solenoid housing defining a solenoid interior, a coil, and an armature, with the armature being moveable along the longitudinal axis in response to energization of the coil. The solenoid-actuated valve also includes a valve portion coupled to the solenoid portion. The valve portion includes a valve member moveable by the armature. The solenoid-actuated valve further includes a valve filter disposed in the solenoid interior and/or coupled to the solenoid housing and configured to separate the solenoid interior from a hydraulic circuit when the valve portion is coupled to a valve housing for allowing fluid to flow into and out of the solenoid interior upon actuation of the armature.

A system for use in an automatic transmission includes a 3-way solenoid-actuated valve includes a valve body having an inlet port and a first outlet port and a second outlet port, a valve disposed within the valve body and slidably controllable to proportion flow between the first outlet port and the second outlet port, and a spring disposed in the valve body to bias the valve for flow toward the second outlet port. The system also includes at least one pump providing fluid to the inlet port, a first fluid circuit connected to the first outlet port providing fluid to a first subsystem of the automatic transmission, and a second fluid circuit connected to the second outlet port providing fluid to a second subsystem of the automatic transmission.

A solenoid actuator is provided which has a lower housing having a generally axially extending portion joined to an end cap with a central opening. An upper housing of the solenoid actuator is formed from a flat stock with a main body with radially extending slot separated legs which are plastically deformed into a cylindrical portion for press fit acceptance with an outer diameter of lower housing axially extending portion.

A solenoid actuated valve () holds pressure and volume of an accumulator with low leakage and provides low actuation drag during a release stroke for dumping fluid contents of the accumulator at very low current draw. Two elongate valve members () are assembled to be movable axially relative to one another with a gland or groove () formed in one of the two valve members (). An o-ring () located within the groove () is in a non-contacting relationship to the other valve member () when in a non-energized state. An energizer ring () located within the groove () can reciprocate axially with respect to the o-ring (). The energizer ring () moves axially toward the o-ring () in response to fluid pressure against a surface () of the energizer ring () opposite from the o-ring () to axially compresses the o-ring (), causing the o-ring () to expand radially outwardly into sealing contact with the other valve member ().

A system and method for fast fill of a hydraulic accumulator used in an automatic transmission includes providing an active fast fill mechanism fluidly connected to a hydraulic accumulator and a hydraulic system of the automatic transmission, providing an electronic control module in communication with the active fast fill mechanism, activating, by the electronic control module, the active fast fill mechanism to allow the hydraulic accumulator to fill with fluid from the hydraulic system, filling, by the active fast fill mechanism, the hydraulic accumulator with fluid, and de-activating, by the electronic control module, the active fast fill mechanism to stop filling the hydraulic accumulator with fluid from the hydraulic system during stop/start engine events of a vehicle.

System and method for fast fill of accumulator for automatic transmissions

A latching solenoid assembly is provided which includes a solenoid actuator. A housing is also provided which has an axial passage. An intermediate piston is moved by the solenoid actuator. A reaction member is also placed within the housing axial passage spring biased by a transfer spring from the intermediate piston. The housing has a latching port allowing pressure to latch the intermediate piston in position to set the force which is transmitted to the reaction member.

A solenoid valve is provided having a hydraulic body that provides one of the poles for the solenoid valve. The hydraulic body has a central bore providing a bearing surface for an armature having an integral poppet. The poppet seals with a valve seat integral to the hydraulic body.

A solenoid valve is provided which includes a valve member, an armature for moving the valve member, an electro-magnetic coil for inducing movement of the armature. A coil spring is provided for engagement with the armature, the coil spring has at least a first end being generally cylindrical and a second end contacting the armature. A plug is provided threadably engaged with the spring first end along an adjustable length of the spring.

In a preferred embodiment, the present solenoid control valve is provided which has a valve sleeve having upper and lower feedback chambers which are connected to control pressure by an exterior surface longitudinal slot or slots.

A solenoid valve has a body with a fluid passage extending longitudinally at least partially through the body. Each of supply, control, and exhaust ports is disposed through the body and operably connected to the passage (the supply port also introducing fluid medium from a pressure source). Among the ports, there is a valve member operably disposed in the passage. A bore extends at least partially through the member. A metering orifice connects the passage or exhaust port with the bore. A solenoid portion has a coil with an armature movable within the portion in response to energization of the coil, and a shaft is connected to the armature. The shaft extends partially into the body and directly contacts the member, and the energization of the coil causes the shaft to slide within the solenoid portion and move the member in response to movement of the armature within the portion.
