A cable trough system includes a trough member including a base wall and first and second sidewalls extending from the base wall to form a trough. The system also includes a cover including a main body with a first end and a second end, and first and second hinge portions coupled to the first and second ends of the main body. Each of the first and second hinge portions includes a first member that extends to an end positioned to contact an inner surface of the first sidewall, a second member that defines an arm that is positioned to at least partially contact the first sidewall, and an extension member that extends from the second member in a direction opposite to that of the arm. The first and second members have a space therebetween sized to receive a portion of the first sidewall.

Hinge for cable trough cover

A cross-connect module is disclosed herein. The cross-connect module includes a housing having a front end and a rear end. The rear end includes a rear wall defining connector mounting openings. First and second switching jacks are positioned adjacent the front end of the housing. Rear connectors mount within the connector mounting openings. Cables electrically couple the rear connectors to the switching jacks. A tracer lamp circuit including a power connector and a pin jack are also provided. In depicted embodiments, the rear connectors, the pin jack and the power connector are secured to the rear wall of the housing by snap-fit connections. The depicted module also includes a front cover having structure for providing snap-fit connections with the switching devices.

Digital switching cross-connect module

A housing including a plurality of openings for receiving fiber optic connectors and protecting the polished end face of the connectors from damage while the connectors are stored within a telecommunications connection cabinet. A module with a plurality of optical fiber cables connected to a first optical fiber cable and terminated by a fiber optic connector. Each of the connectors are inserted within openings in a connector holder for storage and protection until the cables need to be connected to a customer equipment cable.

Multi-position fiber optic connector holder and method

A mount apparatus includes a separate spring contact and wire wrap pin assembly as well as having a sandwich construction to prevent the spring contact and wire wrap pin from being pushed out of their retention positions. In one embodiment, a mount apparatus includes a front cover having a plurality of receptacles, a back cover having a plurality of through holes, and a circuit board assembly sandwiched between the front cover and the back cover. The circuit board assembly includes a board having a plurality of through holes aligned with the receptacles of the front cover and the through holes of the back cover, a plurality of contacts retained in a first set of the through holes of the board of the circuit board assembly, and a plurality of pins retained in a second set of the through holes of the board of the circuit board assembly. A first end of each contact is extended towards and exposed in a corresponding receptacle of the front cover and stopped by the front cover, and a second end of each contact is extended towards and stopped by the back cover. A first end of each pin is extended towards and stopped by the front cover, and a second end of each pin is extended towards and projected from a corresponding through hole of the back cover. Further, the circuit board assembly includes a trace electrically connecting each contact to each corresponding pin.

Interconnect module

An electrical terminal is adapted for insertion into a through hole of a circuit board and includes a first section that receives an electrical contact. The first section includes first and second spring arms proximate to each other at a contact point and configured to exert a first spring force to retain the electrical contact. The electrical terminal also includes a second section adapted for insertion into the through hole of the circuit board. The second section includes first and second pin members proximate to each other and defining first and second slots configured to exert a second spring force to retain the electrical terminal in the through hole of the circuit board. The second spring force is exerted in a direction perpendicular to the first spring force.

A cross-connect module including a housing having a front end and a rear end. The rear end includes a rear wall defining connector mounting openings. First and second switching jacks are positioned adjacent the front end of the housing. Rear connectors mount within the connector mounting openings. Cables electrically couple the rear connectors to the switching jacks. A tracer lamp circuit including a power connector and a pin jack are also provided. In depicted embodiments, the rear connectors, the pin jack and the power connector are secured to the rear wall of the housing by snap-fit connections. The depicted module also includes a front cover having structure for providing snap-fit connections with the switching devices.

A system includes a chassis and at least one mount apparatus mounted in the chassis. The chassis is arranged and configured to retain a plurality of mount apparatuses. The chassis includes a power bus having a plurality of power plugs for providing electrical power. The mount apparatus includes a power receptacle for receiving electrical power from one of the plurality of power plugs.

Interconnect chassis and module

A back lit keypad device and method for fabricating it are described, which facilitates construction of a low cost, durable, and attractive keypad of the 'reverse graphics illumination' type (which is opaque everywhere except for illuminated characters at the tops of the keys). The keypad device includes a shell (30, FIG. 2 ) of opaque rubber having a thin top wall (32), and an insert (42) of light-transmitting rubber molded into the cavity formed within the shell. The thin top wall of the shell has an opening therein forming a character, so light passing up through the insert can pass through the character-forming opening. The keypad device is formed by first forming the shell between first and second molds (94,110, FIG. 4 ), and leaving the formed shell in the first mold. Then a third mold (140, FIG. 5 ) is clamped against the first mold which has the shell (30) therein, and the light-passing insert material (144) is injected into the space between the shell and third mold to form the insert.

Back lit keypad

A switching apparatus which includes a rubber keypad (32, FIG. 2) with a rubber cap (36) that can be depressed by a person's finger to snap a snap dome (52) that connects contacts (21, 22) of a first switch (70), provides increased tactile feedback to the person's finger. A keycap (42) of rigid material includes a cover (44) lying on top of the rubber cap and also includes a stem (54) that projects down through a hole in the cap, with a lower stem end (60) lying above the snap dome to snap down the dome when a person's finger depresses the cover. The tactile snap feedback is transmitted directly through the rigid material of the stem to the rigid material of the cover, to the person's finger to indicate that the switch has been closed. The cap has a radially outer part (84), and an electrically conductive element (82) is mounted on the outer part to engage contacts (23, 24) of a second switch (80) to close it, before the snap dome is snapped to close the first switch. The coupling portion (38) is designed to not produce a tactile response, and the conductive element is preferably of conductive elastomeric material to avoid a tactile feedback that would falsely indicate that both switches were closed.

Sequentially operated snap action membrane switches

A switch assembly is provided with a short travel switch (16, FIG. 3) activated by a push button that has a long travel both before and after closing of the short travel switch, and which provides a substantially constant spring rate throughout push button travel, with minimal noticeable disruptions. The switch assembly includes an inner plunger (32) which depresses the short travel switch, and an outer plunger (44) or keystem coupled to the push button. An inner spring device (46) couples the inner plunger to the housing, and an outer spring device (52) couples the two plungers, so the springs act in series. The preloads of the two spring devices are substantially the same, and the inner spring has a lower spring rate than the outer spring. As the keystem is depressed, both springs begin to compress until the inner plunger contacts the short travel switch. Continued depression of the push button and keystem results in compression of only the outer spring, there being a smooth transition because the preload of the outer spring has already been exceeded. The mechanism lies in a passage of a housing, the housing including a bar (102, FIG. 5) that extends across the passage, with the keystem having grooves that receive the bar end portions. Pin sockets (116) are mounted on the middle of the bar to receive lamp terminals, and a pair of conductors (142) have flattened ends (144) receiving the pin sockets.
