Non-pressurized pump dispensable concentrated air freshener compositions, and a method of freshening air using a pump article containing a concentrated air freshener composition, are described. The air freshener compositions have a reduced VOC content and provide a fragrance intensity and longevity having at least parity with conventional pressurized air freshening aerosols.

Pump concentrated air freshener

A pressurized dispensing system including a plastic bottle and a method of minimizing the formation of stress cracks in a plastic bottle that is a part of a pressurized dispensing system. In a method of manufacturing the pressurized dispensing system, a plastic bottle is filled with a liquid, a valve is crimped onto the plastic bottle, and the plastic bottle is filled with gas so as to pressurize the plastic bottle. The plastic bottle is supported only in the finish region throughout the liquid filling, valve crimping, and gas filling steps. The filled and pressurized plastic bottle is substantially free of stress cracks.

A nozzle insert can be configured to be inserted along an insertion direction into a component of a product dispensing system. A stop portion on the nozzle insert can successively engage with a stop portion on the component when the nozzle insert is inserted into the component by different distances along the insertion direction.

Actuator

An aerosol dispenser assembly is disclosed that includes a container holding a liquid product and a compressed gas propellant for propelling the liquid product from the container. A design methodology for the actuator body and swirl nozzle insert is disclosed for maintaining a small particle size or Sauter Mean Diameter (D[3, 2]) of less than 48 &#x3bc;m at a suitable spray rate (1.5-2 g/s), while utilizing a compressed gas VOC-free propellant for an air freshener product. As obtaining reduced particle size to compete with LPG propellants may result in a reduced spray rate, it is anticipated that one or more nozzles may be designed into the actuator body to maintain a suitable spray rate.

A dispensing system comprises a solenoid valve that includes an inlet end adapted to be attached to a container such that a valve stem thereof is held in an open state. A flow adapter includes a cylindrical wall and a post mounted within the cylindrical wall to define an annular passage therebetween. An inlet end of the flow adapter is sealingly attached to an outlet end of the solenoid valve, and the flow adapter is adapted to receive a spray insert within the annular passage.

A method of dispensing includes the steps of exerting a force on an actuator of a dispenser having a conduit with an inlet and an outlet in a first non-actuation state, to place the actuator in a second actuation state. When the actuator is in the second actuation state, the inlet and the outlet of the actuator are moved from a first position to a second position.

An overcap assembly includes an actuator having a first slot, a tab, and a spray passageway. A nozzle is in fluid communication with the spray passageway. A housing is also included having a notch to receive the tab during a non-actuation state and a first projection to be received by the first slot during an actuation state.

A fragrance dispenser includes a housing and a plurality of heating pans disposed in the housing. Each of the plurality of heating pans includes a corresponding heating element centrally disposed therein. A controller is disposed in the housing to control the amount and temporal distribution of power distributed to each heating element independently. Prongs extend from the housing to provide power to the controller. A volatile material holder is held within the housing and includes a plurality of reservoirs adapted to align with the corresponding plurality of heating pans, wherein each of the plurality of reservoirs includes a volatile material.
