A system for coupling a shroud to a case associated with a gas turbine engine includes the case having a mounting pad, and the shroud having a surface that faces the case. The system includes a load spreader having a spreader surface in contact with the surface of the shroud and a locator pin coupled to the mounting pad and the load spreader to couple the shroud to the case. The system includes a load spreader retainer coupled to the load spreader. The load spreader retainer is to distribute a force to the load spreader. The system includes a biasing system coupled about the mounting pad that includes a spring arm configured to apply the force to the load spreader retainer to maintain the spreader surface of the load spreader in contact with the surface of the shroud.

An actuator for a thrust reverser includes a ball screw, a ball nut coupled to the ball screw, and a gerotor coupled to the ball screw. The gerotor includes an inner rotor coupled to the ball screw and an outer rotor. The outer rotor includes a plurality of bores. The actuator includes a lock system coupled to the outer rotor. The lock system is to enable the gerotor to rotate the ball screw in an unlocked state and to inhibit a rotation of the ball screw in a lock state. The lock system includes a piston coupled to a piston housing and a grippable member coupled to the piston housing. The piston is received in one of the bores in the lock state, and the grippable member is to move the piston housing relative to the gerotor to move the lock system to the unlocked state.

A system and method for controlling compressor inlet guide vanes of a gas turbine engine in an aircraft includes supplying, to a compressor inlet guide vane control algorithm, an inlet temperature value that is at least representative of sensed engine inlet total temperature. One or more gas turbine engine parameters are sensed with one or more sensors during operation of the gas turbine engine. The one or more gas turbine engine parameters are processed in the engine control unit to determine an inlet temperature modifier value that is an estimate of a difference between the sensed engine inlet total temperature and actual engine inlet total temperature. The inlet temperature modifier value is added to the inlet temperature value to derive a modified engine inlet total temperature. The modified engine inlet total temperature is used in the compressor inlet guide vane control algorithm, which controls the compressor inlet guide vanes.

A preload system for bearings in a waterjet propulsion apparatus, the apparatus including a water intake section and a pumping unit including a bearing cartridge. The bearing cartridge is designed such that during operation a preload system provides tailoring between radial and axial thermal growths of a plurality of bearing components that comprise the bearing cartridge and such that an initial ambient temperature preload condition can be maintained or reduced during normal water mode operation conditions. The preload system includes a plurality of spacers that when positioned relative to the bearing components of the bearing cartridge prevent relative motion between the bearing components during land mode operation and maintain or reduce the initial ambient room temperature preload condition during normal water mode operation.
