An implantable extravascular pressure sensing system includes a cuff including a first brace portion affixed to a second brace portion and defining a longitudinal axis therebetween. The first brace portion defines a fluid chamber, the fluid chamber defining a recessed aperture. A first lateral restraint and a second lateral restraint are disposed between the first brace and the second brace, the first lateral restraint and the second lateral restraint being configured to be displaceable in a direction orthogonal to the longitudinal axis. A diaphragm is coupled to the fluid chamber and sealing the recessed aperture. A fluid is disposed within the fluid chamber for exhibiting a hydraulic pressure in communication with the diaphragm. A pressure sensor is coupled to the first brace portion, the pressure sensor being configured to measure a change in the hydraulic pressure when a force is imparted on the diaphragm.

Extravascular cuff with displaceable lateral restraint

An implantable extravascular pressure sensing system including a cuff having a first brace portion, a second brace portion, and a plurality of biasing members movably coupling the first brace portion and the second brace portion to each other, the first brace portion defining a fluid chamber, the fluid chamber defining a recessed aperture, a flexible diaphragm coupled to the fluid chamber and sealing the recessed aperture, a fluid disposed within the fluid chamber for exhibiting a hydraulic pressure in communication with the flexible diaphragm, and a pressure sensor coupled to the first brace portion, the pressure sensor being configured to measure a change in the hydraulic pressure when a force is imparted on the flexible diaphragm.

Extravascular cuff

A method of monitoring respiration with an acoustic measurement device, the acoustic measurement device having a sound transducer, the sound transducer configured to measure sound associated with airflow through a mammalian trachea, the method includes correlating the measured sound into a measurement of tidal volume and generating at least one from the group consisting of an alert and an alarm if the measured tidal volume falls outside of a predetermined range.

Acoustic sensor and ventilation monitoring system

An implantable vital sign sensor including a housing including a first portion, the first portion defining a first open end, a second open end opposite the first end, and a lumen there through, the first portion being sized to be implanted substantially entirely within the blood vessel wall of the patient. A sensor module configured to measure a blood vessel blood pressure waveform is included, the sensor module having a proximal portion and a distal portion, the distal portion being insertable within the lumen and the proximal portion extending outward from the first open end.

Implantable vital sign sensor

A tissue punch including a barrel defining a first open end, a second open end, and inner diameter, an outer diameter, and a lumen there through. A piston is at least partially disposed within the lumen and pressed against the inner diameter of the barrel, the piston being configured to create negative pressure within the barrel when the piston is retracted. A cutting element defines a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end of the cutting element being disposed at the second open end of the barrel, the distal end of the cutting element defining a cutting edge, the cutting element is in fluid communication with the barrel. A pushing element is slideably disposed about the outer diameter of the barrel, the pushing element is movable from a biased first position away from the cutting edge to a second position proximate the cutting edge.
