A motor-pump system includes a first housing part, a hydraulic pump, an electric motor, and a sensor board. The hydraulic pump includes an outer gerotor rotationally supported on the first housing part and an inner gerotor rotationally supported on the first housing part. The electric motor includes a stator assembly rotationally fixed in the first housing part and a rotor assembly with a non-ferrous sensor target, fixed to the outer gerotor. The sensor board includes a plurality of sensor traces for inductively sensing a signal from the non-ferrous sensor target when the outer gerotor is rotated.

Motor-pump system

A split power gerotor pump includes a rotational axis, a shaft, an inner gerotor, an eccentric pocket, and an outer gerotor. The inner gerotor is rotationally fixed on the shaft, rotatable about the rotational axis, and includes n first lobes. The eccentric pocket is rotatable about the rotational axis, and includes a cylindrical bore with a center radially offset from the rotational axis and an outer surface, disposed radially outside of the cylindrical bore and arranged for direct engagement with a gear or a rotor for an electric motor. The outer gerotor includes a cylindrical outer surface installed in the cylindrical bore and n+1 second lobes.

Split power gerotor pump

A phasing mechanism for an internal combustion is provided. The phasing mechanism includes a stator, a rotor configured to rotate relative to the stator, a first plurality of rolling elements configured to engage and move the rotor in a first rotational direction, a second plurality of rolling elements configured to engage and move the rotor in a second rotational direction, and a piston configured to be hydraulically actuated in: i) a first axial direction to move the rotor in the first rotational direction, and ii) a second axial direction to move the rotor in the second rotational direction.

Phasing mechanism with roller ramps

A gerotor pump includes an inner gerotor, a wobble cancellation element, and an outer gerotor disposed radially between the inner gerotor and the wobble cancellation element. The inner gerotor includes a first outer peripheral surface with n first lobes equally spaced from one another in a circumferential direction, and n first depressions, each disposed between an adjacent pair of first lobes. The inner gerotor and the wobble cancellation element are coaxial. The wobble cancellation element includes a first inner peripheral surface with n+1 second lobes equally spaced from one another in the circumferential direction, and n+1 arcuate surfaces, each arranged between an adjacent pair of second lobes. The outer gerotor includes a second outer peripheral surface including n+1 outer depressions complementary to and arranged to engage the second lobes, and a second inner peripheral surface comprising n+1 inner depressions complementary to and arranged to engage the first lobes.

A torsion damper includes an input carrier and an output carrier. The input carrier is configured to rotate about an axis and receive an input torque from a prime mover, such as an engine. An output carrier is spaced along the axis from the input carrier and is configured to transfer an output torque to a transmission component. The torsion damper includes two rings, namely a first ring connected to the input carrier and a second ring connected to the output carrier. The first and second rings are spaced apart from one another. A plurality of rolling elements are disposed between and connect the first and second rings. Rotation of the input carrier relative to the output carrier causes the rings to rotate, forcing the first ring to be in compression and the second to be in tension.

Torsion spring using tensile stress

A phase adjuster assembly is disclosed herein that is configured to adjust a phase between a driving component and driven component of an internal combustion engine. The phase adjuster assembly includes an input gear configured to be driven by the driving component and an output gear configured to drive the driven component. A piston plate assembly is configured to adjust a phase between the driving component and the driven component via axial displacement of the piston plate assembly. A hydraulic fluid system is configured to selectively provide hydraulic fluid to a first piston control chamber on a first side of the piston plate assembly and to a second piston control chamber on a second side of the piston plate assembly to axially displace the piston plate assembly such that the phase between the driving component and the driven component is adjusted.

Cranktrain phase adjuster for variable compression ratio

An accessory drive, including a planetary gear set with a plurality of components arranged to be concentrically disposed around a crankshaft of an internal combustion engine. The plurality of components includes: a sun gear; a planet carrier; a ring gear; and a planet gear meshed with the sun gear and the ring gear. A first component of the planetary gear set: is arranged to non-rotatably connect to a rotor of an electric motor/generator; and is arranged to connect to a power transfer component for least one accessory. A second component of the planetary gear set is arranged to non-rotatably connect to the crankshaft. For a starting mode of the accessory drive, the electric motor/generator is arranged to: rotate the first component of the planetary gear set; and rotate the second component of the planetary gear set with respect to the first component of the planetary gear set.

Two-speed accessory drive with integrated motor-generator

A pump, comprising a rotor axially located between a fluid inlet section and a fluid outlet section, wherein the rotor is configured to rotate about a center axis, a stator surrounding the rotor, wherein the stator includes an inner diameter surface and an outer diameter surface, wherein the inner diameter surface includes a groove surrounding the stator and concentric about the center axis, and a ring surrounding the stator, wherein the ring is adjacent to the groove and defines a gap between an outer diameter of the surface and an inner surface of the ring, wherein the ring includes a ring mass and the stator includes a stator mass, and the ring mass is substantially equal to the stator mass.

Apparatus for a counterbalance for an eccentric motor

A pump includes a fluid inlet section, a fluid outlet section, a rotor axially between the fluid inlet section and the fluid outlet section, a center section radially inside of the rotor and a stator including electrical coils for generating electromagnetic flux for moving the rotor around the center section. The rotor and the center section define a fluid flow chamber radially therebetween. The rotor is rotatable about the center section by the electromagnetic flux generated by the electrical coils. An inlet control section is configured for regulating fluid flow from the fluid inlet section into the fluid flow chamber during rotation of the rotor inside of the stator about the center section. An outlet control section is configured for regulating fluid flow from the fluid flow chamber into the fluid outlet section during rotation of the rotor inside of the stator about the center section. The electrical coils are axially offset from the rotor.

Integrated motor and pump including axially placed coils

A pump includes a fluid inlet section, a fluid outlet section, a rotor axially between the fluid inlet section and the fluid outlet section, a stator surrounding the rotor and a center section radially inside of the rotor on a center axis of the pump. The rotor and the center section define a fluid flow chamber radially therebetween. The rotor is rotatable inside of the stator about the center section by electromagnetic forces urging the rotor towards the stator. The pump also includes an inlet control section configured for regulating fluid flow from the fluid inlet section into the fluid flow chamber and an outlet control section configured for regulating fluid flow from the fluid flow chamber into the fluid outlet section.

Integrated motor and pump including radially movable outer gerator

A bobbin is provided for a stator of an electromagnetic device. The bobbin has two spaced-apart walls around which copper windings are wound. The spaced-apart wall arrangement reduces the material and space occupied by the bobbin, allowing for additional copper windings.

Bobbin for containing electric windings

A reciprocating ramp motor, including: an output shaft including an axis of rotation; a first electro-magnetic device including a first coil; an annular core plate disposed about the output shaft and axially off-set from the first electro-magnetic device in a first axial direction; a roller device; and a first ramp non-rotatably connected to the output shaft; and sloping in the first axial direction along a first circumferential direction. The first coil is arranged to be electrically energized to displace the annular core plate in a second axial direction, opposite the first axial direction. Displacement of the annular core plate in the second axial direction is arranged to roll the roller device along the first ramp in the second axial direction. Displacement of the roller device along the first ramp in the second axial direction is arranged to rotate the output shaft in the first circumferential direction.

Reciprocating ramp motor

A pump is provided. The pump includes a fluid inlet section; a fluid outlet section; a stator axially between the fluid inlet section and the fluid outlet section; a rotor axially between the fluid inlet section and the fluid outlet section, the rotor and the stator defining a fluid flow space radially therebetween; a movable inlet guide configured for guiding fluid flow from the fluid inlet section into the fluid flow space; and a movable outlet guide configured for guiding fluid flow from the fluid flow space into the fluid outlet section. The rotor is rotatable inside of the stator by electromagnetic forces urging the rotor towards the stator. Rotation of the rotor inside of the stator and movement of the inlet guide and the outlet guide create a pressure in a first portion of the fluid flow space that forces fluid from the fluid flow space through the fluid outlet section and create a vacuum in a second portion of the fluid flow space that pulls fluid from the fluid inlet section into the fluid flow space. A method of forming a pump is also provided.

Integrated eccentric motor and pump

A differential arrangement including a wedge clutch assembly is provided. The wedge clutch assembly includes a cage with a first plurality of tapered crossbars to at least partially define a plurality of tapered wedge pockets. A plurality of wedges are each arranged within a respective one of the plurality of wedge pockets and within a circumferential groove of an input drive gear or a differential assembly. An actuator assembly is configured to move the cage in at least one of a first axial direction or a second axial direction. Movement of the first plurality of tapered crossbars in one of the first axial direction or the second axial direction circumferentially drives the plurality of wedges into contact with the circumferential groove such that the input drive gear drives the differential assembly.

Differential with disconnect clutch

An expandable piston assembly for a clutch pack includes an apply piston, a stator, a rotor, and at least one side cover fixed to the stator. The stator is fixed to the apply piston and includes a first arcuate segment and a first radial protrusion extending from the first arcuate segment and including a distal end. The rotor is axially aligned with and rotatable relative to the stator. The rotor includes a second arcuate segment extending proximate the first radial protrusion distal end and a second radial protrusion extending from the second arcuate segment and including a distal end proximate the first arcuate segment. In some example embodiments, the first and second arcuate segments, the first and second radial protrusions, and the at least one side cover collectively form a portion of a first chamber for receiving a pressurized hydraulic fluid to rotate the rotor relative to the stator.
