Embodiments of the present disclosure may include a method for planning and performing an interventional procedure on a patient, the method including steps of providing an augmented reality system, a tracked instrument, a first image acquisition system, a second image acquisition system, and a computer system with a processor and a memory, the tracked instrument having a plurality of sensors to provide a tracked instrument dataset, the first image acquisition system, and the computer system in communication with the augmented reality system, the tracked instrument, the first image acquisition system, and the second image acquisition system. Embodiments may also include acquiring, by the first image acquisition system, the first holographic image dataset from the patient. Embodiments may also include acquiring, by the second image acquisition system, the second holographic image dataset from the patient.

Planning and performing three-dimensional holographic interventional procedures with holographic guide

A method and a system for image-guided intervention such as a percutaneous treatment or diagnosis of a patient may include at least one of a pre-registration method and a re-registration method. The pre-registration method is configured to permit for an efficient virtual representation of a planned trajectory to target tissue during the intervention, for example, as a holographic light ray shown through an augmented reality system. In turn, this allows the operator to align a physical instrument such as a medical probe for the intervention. The re-registration method is configured to adjust for inaccuracy in the virtual representation generated by the pre-registration method, as determined by live imaging of the patient during the intervention. The re-registration method may employ the use of intersectional contour lines to define the target tissue as viewed through the augmented reality system, which permits for an unobstructed view of the target tissue for the intervention.

System and methods for planning and performing three-dimensional holographic interventional procedures with three-dimensional tomographic and live imaging

A method for performing a procedure on a patient includes acquiring a three-dimensional image of a location of interest on the patient and a two-dimensional image of the location of interest can be acquired. A computer system can relate the three-dimensional image with the two-dimensional image to form a holographic image dataset. The computer system can register the holographic image dataset with the patient. The augmented reality system can render a hologram based on the holographic image dataset from the patient. The hologram can include a projection of the three-dimensional image and a projection of the two-dimensional image. The practitioner can view the hologram with the augmented reality system and perform the procedure on the patient. The practitioner can employ the augmented reality system to visualize a point on the projection of the three-dimensional image and a corresponding point on the projection of the two-dimensional image during the procedure.

Augmented reality system and methods for stereoscopic projection and cross-referencing of live x-ray fluoroscopic and computed tomographic c-arm imaging during surgery

This disclosure relates generally to systems and methods for localizing a device relative to an instrument. A sensor of the instrument can be monitored for a change in signaling during a first transition of the device relative to the instrument. The sensor can further be monitored for another change in signaling provided by the sensor of the instrument in response to a second transition of the device relative to the instrument. A transition distance difference can be determined between the first transition and the second transition. A location of the device relative to the instrument can be determined based on a location of the instrument and the transition difference distance.

Localizing a device relative to an instrument

An example system includes a distortion reference sensor (DRS) device attachable to a surface adjacent a region of interest within the patient. The DRS device includes at least two sensor coils arranged at a predetermined angle relative to each other and at a predetermined spatial position in a three-dimensional space relative to each other. The system also includes a computing device to determine a sensed angle and a sensed spatial position of the at least two sensor coils in the three-dimensional coordinate system in response to application of an electromagnetic field. Electromagnetic field distortion is indicated based on a difference between the predetermined angle and the sensed angle and/or the predetermined spatial position and the sensed spatial position exceeding an expected difference value.

Holographic image-guidance can be used to track an interventional device during a non-vascular percutaneous procedure. The holographic image guidance can be provided by a head-mounted device by transforming tracking data and body image data to a common coordinate system and creating a holographic display relative to a patient's body to track the interventional device during the non-vascular percutaneous procedure. The holographic display can also include graphics to provide guidance for the physical interventional device as it travels through the patient's anatomy.

System and method for holographic image-guided non-vascular percutaneous procedures

An interventional procedure can be performed less invasively with live 3D holographic guidance and navigation. Advantageously, the 3D holographic guidance and navigation overcomes the limitations of conventional displays of medical images on standard 2D flat panel screens. The live 3D holographic guidance can utilize a 3D holographic visualization that is derived from complementary imaging modalities (e.g., ultrasound and computed tomography) to provide a complete holographic view of a portion of the patient's body to enable navigation of a tracked interventional instrument/device.

Live 3D holographic guidance and navigation for performing interventional procedures

Holographic image-guidance can be used to track an interventional device during an endovascular percutaneous procedure. The holographic image guidance can be provided by a head-mounted device by transforming tracking data and vasculature image data to a common coordinate system and creating a holographic display relative to a patient's vasculature to track the interventional device during the endovascular percutaneous procedure. The holographic display can also include graphics to provide guidance for the physical interventional device as it travels through the patient's anatomy (e.g., the vasculature).

System and method for holographic image-guided percutaneous endovascular percutaneous procedures

A guide apparatus is provided for use with an associated imaging device to direct movement of an associated interventional implement relative to a patient disposed on the imaging device. A gripping area is adapted to the guide apparatus for manual gripping by an associated operator. A holding area is adapted to hold the associated interventional implement in an orientation suitable for motion relative to said patient along a selected linear path and also operative to translate the associated interventional implement along said selected linear path in response to manual force applied by the associated human operator at said gripping area.

Remotely held needle guide for CT fluoroscopy

An integrated respiratory monitor and imaging device apparatus () is provided. The apparatus is useful for establishing pre-operative and intra-operative breath hold congruency in patients and for other interventional work. The apparatus () includes a respiratory monitor system () and an imaging device (). The respiratory monitor system is adapted to engage a patient and generate a respiratory signal representative of a breath hold level of the patient during a breath hold. The imaging device () is adapted to scan the patient during the breath hold and generate a volumetric image data set of the patient. The respiratory sensor and imaging device are operatively connected to associate the respiratory signal representative of the breath hold level of the patient together with the volumetric image data set of the patient. A data storage device () is provided for storing a set of respiratory signals in association with a corresponding set of volumetric image data sets in the subject apparatus (). A scanner gating function is provided to center the image acquisition time at selected points in the respiratory cycle such as at a minimum to minimize motion artifacts in the resultant image.

CT integrated respiratory monitor

A medical imaging system for conducting an image-guided medical procedure on a subject and a method for performing the same is provided. The system includes a medical imaging apparatus, such as a CT scanner, magnetic resonance imaging system, or ultrasonic imaging system, etc., for obtaining volumetric images of the subject. Through intervention planning techniques, an interventional procedure on a subject using the volumetric images is determined. A mechanical arm assembly disposed in proximity to the medical imaging apparatus carries out the interventional procedure. The mechanical arm assembly includes a base support, a distal end, a plurality of arm segments, and a plurality of joints between the arm segments for carrying out the interventional procedure. An end-effector is disposed at the distal end of the mechanical arm assembly. The end-effector includes gripping means for selectively gripping and releasing a surgical instrument during the interventional procedure.
