A medical balloon assembly including an inner balloon nested within an outer balloon. The inner balloon has a first target burst pressure at which the inner balloon bursts and the outer balloon has a second target burst pressure at which the outer balloon bursts. A differential between the first and second target burst pressures is sufficient to allow the outer balloon to remain intact upon inflation of the inner and outer balloons causing the inner balloon to burst.

Nested balloon assembly

A stent comprising a stent body and a plurality of cells is disclosed. Each cell includes two structural members extending in an undulating pattern. Each structural member includes a plurality of cell segments defining a plurality of peaks and valleys therebetween. A first segment and a second segment defining a first peak, the second segment and a third segment defining a first valley, the third segment and a fourth segment defining a second peak, the fourth segment and a fifth segment defining a second valley, the fifth segment and a sixth segment defining a third peak. The first peak, the second peak and the first valley include a first radius of curvature. The third peak and the second valley include a second radius of curvature. The first radius of curvature is larger than the second radius of curvature.

Stent

Example articles coated with tissue layers and techniques for forming articles with tissue layers. An example article may include a tubular frame extending along a longitudinal axis. The tubular frame includes a plurality of struts joined at apices to define a plurality of cells including a group of struts. The example article includes a tissue layer coating each strut and extending across each cell. The tissue layer defines a plurality of defects, each cell including a respective defect.

Tissue-coated articles

A stent may include a stent body defining a longitudinal axis and proximal and distal ends. The stent body may be expandable from a compressed configuration to an expanded configuration. In some examples, the stent body may include a plurality of stent segments. The stent segments may include a first end segment and a second end segment on opposite ends of the stent body and at least one intermediate segment disposed between the first end segment and the second end segment. Each stent segment may define a plurality of cells. Each stent segment may define a plurality of peaks and valleys. The plurality of cells defined by the first end segment may alternate about the circumference of the stent between larger cells and smaller cells.

The distance between a peak and an adjacent valley of the first end segment is substantially equal to a first length. The at least one intermediate segment defines a plurality of peaks and valleys. The distance between a peak and an adjacent valley of the at least one intermediate segment is substantially equal to a second length that is longer than the second length.

A stent includes a stent body defining a longitudinal axis and proximal and distal ends and being expandable from a compressed configuration to an expanded configuration. The stent body includes a plurality of stent segments. The stent segments include a first end segment and a second end segment on opposite ends of the stent body and at least one intermediate segment disposed between the first end segment and the second end segment. Each stent segment defines a plurality of cells and a plurality of peaks and valleys. The at least one intermediate segment defines only x number of cells. The first end segment defines at least x+1 number of cells. Each of the cells of the first end segment is substantially equal in size. Each of the at least one intermediate segment and the first end segment defines only y number of peaks and valleys.

A stent including a stent body and a plurality of cells is disclosed. The stent body defines a length. Each cell includes two structural members extending in an undulating pattern. Each structural member includes a plurality of cell segments defining a plurality of nodes therebetween. At least one node includes a non-constant radius of curvature.

Stent with varying radius between struts

Anchoring mechanisms for releasably securing an intravascular device along an elongated member such as a guidewire or catheter. The anchoring mechanism may include an object that can be actuated between an unlocked position and a locked position. In the unlocked position, the anchoring mechanism is slidably and rotationally disposed about the elongated member. In the locked position, the anchoring mechanism is releasably secured to the elongated member, preventing movement thereon. A placement mechanism such as a tubular member can be utilized to actuate the anchoring mechanism between the unlocked and locked positions.

Apparatus for anchoring an intravascular device along a guidewire

Methods and devices for retrieving a filter fixed to a guidewire disposed within a blood vessel are disclosed. A catheter for retrieving a filter fixed to a guidewire disposed within a blood vessel in accordance with the present invention includes an elongate shaft and a housing fixed to the elongate shaft proximate a distal end thereof. A tip member is slidingly disposed within a cavity defined by the housing. In a preferred embodiment, the tip member is configured such that the housing is substantially centered about the guidewire. In another preferred embodiment, the tip member is slidingly disposed within the housing, and the tip member may be moved between a first position and a second position.

Filter retrieval catheter

The present invention relates generally to perfusion catheters and distal protection devices. According to an embodiment, the present invention includes a distal protection filter comprising an elongate shaft having a proximal end and a distal end, a distal protection device disposed at the distal end, a coupling member that couples the elongate shaft to the distal protection device, and a first space between the coupling member and the elongate shaft. A method of filtering debris from a blood vessel is also disclosed.

Perfusion guidewire in combination with a distal filter

The present invention relates generally to guidewires with a high level of torquability, flexibility, and elasticity. In an embodiment, a guidewire comprises an elongate shaft having an outside diameter. The shaft may include a filler and a polymeric matrix, wherein the filler includes a plurality of wires, wherein the matrix substantially surrounds the filler, and wherein the outside diameter of the shaft is sized appropriately for being disposed within a lumen of an intravascular catheter.
