A liquid injection port including a liquid input block defining a liquid input conduit; a compression block adapted to mate with the liquid input block; and a septum including a deformable material mounted in a septum retainer, the septum defining a central perforation, and forming a seal between the liquid input block and the compression block. The septum defines a conical deformation toward the liquid input conduit. A method for delivering fluid from a pipette tip includes a) introducing the fluid into the pipette tip; b) inserting the pipette tip into a pipette conduit defined by a compression block; c) inserting the pipette tip through a septum mounted in the compression block; and d) releasing the fluid in the pipette tip into a liquid input conduit defined in a liquid input block, the septum defining a conical deformation toward the liquid input conduit while maintaining a seal.

Self-sealing pipette septum

A sensor including a flexible channel defining a fluid flow path, the flexible channel configured to at least partially deflect when a force is imparted on the flexible channel. A gel layer is in contact with an outer surface of the flexible channel, and a transducer is in contact with the gel layer. Transducer is configured to generate an output signal that corresponds to an amount of strain imparted on the flexible channel.

Fully swept pressure sensor

An array of probes is provided wherein the probes are maintained in place in bores extending through a housing by a friction force applied to the probes. The friction force can be overcome by another force applied to the probes, thereby allowing the probes to move to a new position within the bore. In one embodiment, the probes contain an internal conduit through which liquid samples are introduced into the probes. Thereafter, the probes are moved to contact a substrate surface to move the probes to a new position, the configuration of which replicates the substrate surface configuration. The housing is then raised a predetermined distance to allow sample to be accurately deposited on the substrate surface from a desired height above the substrate surface. The probes are then returned to their original position.

Robotic system having positionally adjustable multiple probes

Regulator for precision control of pressure based on a means of measuring pressure differentials. More specifically, the present invention provides a pressure control that tracks a relatively high background pressure, and applies a positive or negative offset to create the small pressure differentials that can be utilized to transport fluids within a capillary network. The present invention is also directed to a method of controlling microfluidic elements (such as donut cavities) with a high degree of precision. In high performance liquid chromatography applications, this is accomplished using tracking pressure regulators to measure and respond to the difference between the liquid pump pressure and the regulated pneumatic pressure.

Programmable tracking pressure regulator for control of higher pressures in microfluidic circuits

A fluid connector which provides a low fluid dead volume face seal capable of withstanding high pressures for coupling a fluid conduit to a microfluidic device. The fluid connector includes a housing, a clamping member, a first load support surface and a sealing member. The sealing member preferably includes first and second fluidically connected bores of different diameters so the fluid conduit may be retained within the larger diameter bore. The sealing member is positioned so that the smaller diameter bore interfaces with a port of the microfluidic device. In operation, the clamping member supplies an axial force to the first load support surface which is operatively coupled to the fluid conduit. When an axial force is transferred to the fluid conduit, the face of the fluid conduit at one end seals against the pliant portion of the sealing member while simultaneously urging the sealing member against the surface area surrounding the port of the microfluidic device to create a fluid-tight face seal.
