A surgical tray efficiency system comprising a vertical rack assembly for holding and displaying a plurality of surgical instrument trays, a sterile barrier covering the vertical rack assembly and including tray location identifiers, and a standardization software platform including a customizable interactive planogram is described. The customizable interactive planogram software helps operating room staff arrange the instrument trays on the vertical rack assembly according to a predetermined customizable location ID, and create/load/access information related to the surgical procedure/trays/instruments before, during, and after the surgery.

A medical tool kit is provided for packaging, storing, and transporting medical instruments and tools of various types. The medical tool kit is capable of providing continuing sterilization to the medical instruments and tools kept inside the medical tool kit after the tool case is opened during its normal use in a medical procedure. The medical tool kit is further capable of emitting a GPS tracking signal to identify the location of an opened medical tool kit during an emergency as well as creating hands free communication between the user of the medical tool kit and local emergency institutions.

A rack for use in an operating room during surgery to hold surgical instruments. The rack includes a vertical support (including an adjustable height portion); rack support braces; rack support arms; a base interface member; casters; a base; and lighted trays. The lighted trays radiate ultraviolet and/or visible light to provide visible light in low light conditions and/or to inhibit bacterial growth. The trays are detachably attachable from the rack support arms which helps the trays to be maintained in a sterile condition, even if the rest of the rack is not maintained in a sterile condition.
