A system and method for transmitting a series of pages in a communication system. The system includes a paging console for placing a plurality of pages in a queue for transmission to one or more targets devices. Each page includes a Dependent-Upon (DU) field that indicates whether the page is dependent upon an earlier page in the queue. Upon initiating a paging event, the plurality of pages are attempted based upon their order in the queue. Prior to transmitting each page, it is determined whether the DU field of that page indicates a dependency upon an earlier page. If there is no dependency, the page is attempted as normal. If the current page is dependent upon an earlier page, a record is checked to determine whether the earlier page was successful. If the earlier page was successful, the current page is attempted. If the earlier page was unsuccessful, the current page is not attempted and is recorded as unsuccessful.

System and method for transmitting a sequence of pages in a communication system

A method of providing delayed communications within a communication system begins with the steps of detecting (,) selection of simultaneous transmission of a message on at least one communication resource and recording (,) at least a part of the message, yielding a recorded message. Method and apparatus for providing delayed communications within a communication system

A digital recorder detrunks calls for logging prior to recording same. This allows retrieving what a radio monitoring a particular talkgroup hears and combines that with the best features of a detrunk-on-playback system, namely the ability to isolate those portions of all the system communications which are desired or specifically excluded. The fluid associations between talkgroup IDs, multigroup IDs, and supergroup IDs are used by the recorder to search for the audio which the user wishes to hear. The retrieval of audio heard by a particular, individual radio is made possible through the incorporation of radio affiliation information into a searchable database. A specified individual radio ID may be tracked with respect to its talkgroup affiliations, during a specified time interval, by an appropriate search algorithm. Those affiliations can, in turn, be further used with the talkgroup/supergroup/multigroup search algorithm to retrieve the audio heard by an individual radio user.

In a communication system having a communication resource allocator, a plurality of communication units, a plurality of communication resources, and at least one console, the communication resource allocator is improved to comprise system reconfiguration databases, selection information, execution information, and predetermined event receiving information. The improvement allows the communication system to be automatically reconfigured in response to a predetermined event. The predetermined event is typically initiated by one of the plurality of communication units.

Channels are deassigned unless they are supporting an emergency call, and then reassigned to a default assignment. If the reassignment would cause a duplicate assignment, the duplicate assignment is first deassigned prior to making the new default assignment.
