A tank venting system is configured to regulate air and fuel vapor flow between a fuel tank and a fuel vapor recovery canister. A roll-over valve is included in the tank venting system.

Roll-over valve with shared overfill protection and vacuum relief

A nozzle inhibitor is positioned in a filler neck closure assembly to prevent a user from pumping unleaded fuel into a diesel fuel tank. The nozzle inhibitor blocks full insertion of a small-diameter unleaded fuel nozzle into the filler neck closure assembly yet allows full insertion of a large-diameter diesel fuel nozzle into the filler neck closure assembly.

Fuel-dispensing nozzle inhibitor

A vent apparatus is opened to allow free flow of fuel vapor from a vehicle fuel tank through the vent apparatus to a fuel vapor recovery canister during tank refueling until a predetermined level of liquid fuel is reached in the vent apparatus. Once refueling has been completed, the vent apparatus is closed to block or limit further flow of liquid fuel to the vent apparatus. At the same time, fuel vapor discharge passageways in the vent apparatus that had been closed once the fuel tank had been filled to a predetermined capacity with liquid fuel are reopened so that fuel vapor can flow freely from the fuel tank to the canister even though the volume or height of liquid fuel in the fuel tank has not decreased since the tank was filled during refueling.

Electronic fuel tank fill limit control

A tank venting system includes a diaphragm valve movable to open and close a passageway leading to a fuel tank. The system also includes a fuel vapor recovery canister used to adsorb hydrocarbons associated with fuel vapor flowing through the passageway.

Tank venting system

A nozzle inhibitor is positioned in a filler neck closure assembly between a pivotable outer door and a pivotable inner door to prevent a user from pumping unleaded fuel into a diesel fuel tank. The nozzle inhibitor blocks full insertion of a small-diameter unleaded fuel nozzle into the filler neck closure assembly yet allows full insertion of a large-diameter diesel fuel nozzle into the filler neck closure assembly.

A vent apparatus includes a vent housing adapted to be mounted on a fuel tank to extend into an interior region of the fuel tank and a fuel vapor discharge conduit leading from the vent housing to a fuel vapor recovery canister. The vent apparatus further includes a discharge regulator configured to regulate flow of fuel vapor from the vent housing into the fuel vapor discharge conduit.

Fuel tank vent apparatus

A return fuel temperature control module is adapted for use in controlling the temperature of fuel diverted away from an engine and returned to a fuel tank. The module includes a housing formed to include passageways and a flow controller to control flow of fuel through the passageways.

Return fuel temperature control module

A vent valve for use in controlling discharge of fuel vapor from a fuel tank. The vent valve includes a housing for attachment to the fuel tank includes a wall defining a cavity therein. The float is contained in the cavity of the housing and is responsive to the level of liquid in the fuel tank. The level in the fuel tank rises, the float rises within the housing. When the level of liquid in the fuel tank drops, the float moves downwardly in the housing. A passage is provided in the housing which communicates with an external portion of the tank. The vent valve includes at least one vent positioned proximate to and communicating with the passage for providing venting passage of vapor therethrough and to the passage. The vent valve includes a vent assembly having a flexible diaphragm which is displaceably positioned proximate to the passage to control the flow of vapor through the vent and through the passage. The diaphragm is attached to the float making it responsive to the rise and fall of liquid level in the tank. The diaphragm is generally concentrically peeled from a position overlying at least the vent or progressively opening and closing the vent.

Easy opening fuel tank vent valve

A fuel system is provided having a fuel tank formed to include an interior region, a fuel vapor discharge apparatus coupled to the fuel tank to vent fuel vapor from the interior region of the fuel tank, a fuel delivery apparatus formed to include an interior region and coupled to the fuel tank to deliver fuel to the interior region of the fuel tank, and a fuel vapor recirculation apparatus in fluid communication with the interior region of the fuel tank. The fuel vapor recirculation apparatus delivers fuel vapor from the interior region of the fuel tank to the interior region of the fuel delivery apparatus, and includes a sensor in fluid communication with the interior region of the fuel delivery apparatus to sense pressure extant in the interior region of the fuel delivery apparatus, a housing, and a flow restrictor coupled to the sensor and positioned to lie in the housing to move between a first position restricting the flow of fuel vapor from the fuel tank to the fuel delivery apparatus in response to sensations from the sensor without regard to changes in the vapor pressure extant in the interior region of the fuel tank and a second position permitting flow of fuel vapor from the fuel tank to the fuel delivery apparatus.

Filler neck cup pressure regulator

A fuel-transfer system is provided for a fuel system of a vehicle. The fuel-transfer system includes a filler neck and a fuel tank having top and bottom walls. The fuel-transfer system includes a tube and a fuel conductor. The fuel conductor includes a housing and a diverter valve positioned to lie in the housing. The diverter valve is configured to intercept and guide the tube through an outlet of the housing into a fuel tank.

Fuel-Transfer system

An apparatus is provided for controlling venting of vapor to and from a fuel tank. The apparatus includes a housing and first and second valves positioned in the housing. The first valve controls the primary flow of vapors from the fuel tank and includes an aperture permitting an auxiliary flow of vapor to and from the fuel tank. The second valve controls the auxiliary flow of vapor to the fuel tank and includes first and second apertures permitting vapor to flow to the fuel tank. The second valve moves between a first position permitting vapor to flow through the first aperture and a second position permitting vapor to flow through the first and second apertures at a greater flow rate.

Tank vent control apparatus

An apparatus is provided for controlling discharge of fuel vapor from an interior region of a vehicle fuel tank and preventing unsatisfactory liquid fill levels within the interior region of the vehicle fuel tank. The apparatus includes a housing adapted to be mounted in the vehicle fuel tank and formed to include a housing inlet, a vapor-inlet opening, and a passageway therebetween, a float valve disposed in the housing, and a skirt defining a channel around the float valve. Additionally a perforated baffle plate is coupled to the skirt and is formed to include a plurality of openings therethrough.
