An imaging apparatus includes a micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMs) optical device that is operable to switch an optical image input path between first and second optical image output paths. A spectral imaging sensor is aligned with the first optical image output path and an imaging sensor is aligned with the second optical image output path. A multiplexing controller is configured to selectively operate the MEMs optical device to alternatingly collect spectral image data from the spectral imaging sensor and image data from the imaging sensor.

Imaging apparatus having micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMs) optical device for spectral and temporal imaging and associated methods

A light emitting diode-based bulb that includes a bracket and a housing translatably coupled with the bracket. The housing includes at least one light emitting diode (LED) unit disposed on a front face of the housing arranged to generate light in a direction away from the front face of the housing and a rear face of the housing with a heat sink thermally integrated into the housing. The heat sink including at least one heat dissipating member extending outwardly from the rear face of the housing to dissipate heat generated by the at least one light emitting diode (LED) unit. A fan is attached to the rear face of the housing, where the fan generates airflow that removes the heat generated by the least one light emitting diode unit.

A passive phased array imager includes a plurality of antennas, disposed on a substrate, for receiving a wavefront from a target; and a coplanar waveguide, disposed in the substrate and coupled to the plurality of antennas. Also included is a plurality of detectors, disposed across the coplanar waveguide for sampling the received wavefront, and providing multiple output voltages to an imaging circuit for displaying information contained in the received wavefront. The plurality of antennas includes at least two dipoles coupled to the coplanar waveguide, and the two dipoles are spaced by a predetermined length to provide a standing wave at a frequency of interest.

Passive phased array imager using sub-phase sampling CMOS detectors and a smart ROIC

A focal plane array (FPA) imaging sensor includes an array of multiple tuning cells disposed on a monolithic substrate, in which each tuning cell includes: (a) a tunable etalon disposed in the monolithic substrate, and (b) a THz detector assembly comprised of at least two antennae disposed in the monolithic substrate. The THz detector assembly is disposed below the tunable etalon. Each tunable etalon includes a Fabry-P&#xe9;rot interferometer comprised of upper and lower mirrors, spaced by a gap between the mirrors, the gap forming an etalon of the interferometer. The FPA imaging sensor may also be formed as a hybrid, in which portions of the tuning cells are fabricated separately from the THz detector assembly and aligned to each other. The lower mirrors may also be fabricated monolithically with the substrate and the upper mirrors may be formed separately and then aligned to the lower mirrors.

Compact THz imaging detector with an integrated micro-spectrometer spectral tuning matrix

A terahertz (THz) imaging device includes a tunable filter and a focal plane array (FPA) for receiving selected optical wavelengths of light. The tunable filter includes: (a) a first mirror comprised of a thick silicon substrate and a thin silicon membrane, in which the thin silicon membrane is separated from the thick silicon substrate by a gridded cell structure, (b) a second mirror comprised of a thick silicon substrate and a thin silicon membrane, in which the thin silicon membrane is separated from the thick silicon substrate by another gridded cell structure, and (c) a variable gap disposed between the first and second mirrors. The gridded cell structure may have a hexagonal shape, a square shape, a rectangular shape, a triangular shape or a rhombus-like shape.

Terahertz tunable filter with microfabricated mirrors

A retrofit light emitting diode (LED) bulb includes a screw connector, a bracket, and a housing. The screw connector is configured to be screwed into a receiving socket of an electric light fixture for supporting the retrofit light emitting diode (LED) bulb. The bracket is physically attached to the screw connector. The housing is rotatably coupled to the bracket. The housing includes one or more LED units for generating light and one or more electrically powered cooling devices to remove heat from the vicinity of the one or more LED units.

A monolithic focal plane array (FPA) of an imaging system includes an array of multiple pixel unit cells disposed on a substrate. Each pixel unit cell includes: a first array of THz antennae disposed on a top layer of the substrate, and a second array of context imaging pixels disposed on the top layer of the substrate. The first and second arrays are interleaved on the top layer of the substrate. In addition, each THz antenna in the first array is shaped either in a bow-tie, circular or tuned waveguide configuration, and each context imaging pixel in the second array is shaped in a circular, or rectangular configuration.

A light emitting diode-based bulb is described. The bulb comprises a base comprising a driver; and a housing releasably coupled with the base. The housing comprises a light emitting diode connected to the driver and a fan connected to the driver.

An imaging system having a programmable spectral transmission function, that includes an input image plane for passing input imaging light into the imaging system; a dispersive optical system for separating the input imaging light into its corresponding spectral components, thus creating spectrally-dispersed image components along a spectrally-dispersed direction. Also included is a spatial light modulator, having a plurality of operational states, for selecting spectral components for imaging; and having a width along the spectrally-dispersed direction; a de-dispersive optical system for re-combining the selected spectral components for imaging onto a detector array; and means for scanning the input imaging light from an object of interest to generate an output area image.
