A cushioning device with double layer cover with the layers connected to define first and second pockets. The first and second pocket having access openings for insertion and removal of shell sections to be placed in a stacked state. A closure device as in a zipper for adjustable placement of the cover in a cover interior cavity closure state and a cover interior cavity access state. A first core insert received within the cover interior cavity. The arrangement of the present invention makes it well suited for use as an adjustable head pillow kit featuring a variety of different comfort level core inserts that can be switched out to achieve a personal overall comfort level. A method of assembling the cushion and adjusting the comfort level with different inserts is also presented.

Cushioning device

A cushioning device as in a pillow that has a main-body foam which a plurality of projections extend off a surface of the main-body. The projections are arranged in different support characteristic groupings such as rows of different volume or sized projections (e.g., cylindrical, cubical, prismatic, etc.) spaced out over a surface (e.g., convex surface) of the pillow (one or more surface sections as in upper surface sections and front edge surface section). There is also preferably provided a neck support ridge extension. The cylindrical projections are arranged such that a greater number of smaller volume, width or diameter, etc. rows of projections are centrally positioned on the surface and with the larger volume, width, or diameter, etc. projections laterally outward of the more centrally positioned projections, and with the ridge extension preferably extending along a front edge (e.g., commensurate with the extreme front edge surface or to some extent back in a front edge region of the front edge) of the pillow for a full length of the pillow.

Pillow

A cushioning apparatus such as a pillow which includes an upper pocket with reception cavity for receiving preferably loose or grouped non-integral filler material such as down, fiberfill or fiber-balls and another pocket for receiving additional filler material such as a foam core filler material. The foam core filler material is preferably an integrated or monolithic foam body of, for example, visco-elastic or alternate polyurethane foam. The core preferably has a non-planar upper surface contour allowing for a relatively thin, consistent height upper pocket thickness. The pillow also preferably includes a lower pocket joined about its periphery to the upper pocket such as by way of an intermediate gusset panel with beading and with the lower pocket also receiving loose or non-integrated filler material and with the bottom surface of the core preferably having a convex surface such as one symmetrical with the top surface.

An elevating foot cushion that includes an embodiment with a cushion that is preferably of a unitary foam body defining front and rear faces and left and right lateral faces and an upper leg contact surface. The upper leg contact surface has first and second laterally spaced apart leg reception areas such as recesses that extend in a leg extension direction between the front and rear faces and an intermediate foam body region extending between the spaced apart leg reception recesses. The cushion preferably has an upper leg support surface that has first and second portions which have a first support characteristic designed for supporting an individual leg, and the upper leg support surface also preferably includes a third portion having a different support characteristic than the first and second portions which is more adept at handling a higher load pair of crossed legs. This third portion is preferably an elongated recess with a different configuration than the first and second elongated leg reception recesses.
