Fluidic usage data over time is received from a printing device. A profile governing servicing maintenance of fluidic printhead nozzles of the printing device is determined based on the received fluidic usage data over time. The profile is transmitted to the printing device. The printing device performs spit-wipe-prime operations on the fluidic printhead nozzles according to the profile.

One method of ink formulation may include providing a shipping material in a reservoir of a printing mechanism, placing a concentrated ink in communication with the reservoir, and mixing the shipping material and the concentrated ink together to create a print-ready ink.

An ink recirculation system includes a printhead adapted for printing an ink image on a media, a printhead reservoir fluidly connected to the printhead, a pump, a valve fluidly connected to the pump and the printhead reservoir, and an ink supply container including cleaning fluid therein. An ink delivery system having at least one off-axis ink supply container and an on-axis printhead assembly. The on-axis printhead assembly includes at least one reservoir and a corresponding standpipe separated by a particle filter. At least one tube connects the off-axis ink supply container to the on-axis printhead assembly. A first valve is configured to selectively open a flow path between the tube and the reservoir. A second valve is configured to selectively open a flow path between the standpipe and the tube.

Ink delivery system and methods for improved printing

In one embodiment, a printhead assembly includes: an ink reservoir; a printhead; a passage for carrying ink from the ink reservoir to the printhead; and a port from the passage to a source of air pressure. The port is operable between a closed position in which the passage is not pressurized with air and an open position in which the passage is exposed to pressurized air. In another embodiment, an ink supply includes: a reservoir for holding ink; a printhead; a standpipe connecting the reservoir and the printhead such that ink may flow from the reservoir to the printhead through the standpipe; and a valve operatively connected to the standpipe. The valve is operative between a first position in which the standpipe is pressurized with air and a second position in which of the standpipe is not pressurized with air.

Printhead evacuation mechanism and method

An ink delivery system having a fluid supply and a printhead assembly, separate from and in fluid communication with the fluid supply. A primary flow path is configured to facilitate the delivery of fluid from the fluid supply to the printhead assembly, and a return flow path, at least partially separate from the primary flow path, is configured to facilitate the evacuation of fluid from the printhead assembly.

Ink delivery system and a method for replacing ink

Systems, methodologies, media, and other embodiments associated with clearing silicate based kogation from heating resistors employed in ink jet printing are described. One exemplary system embodiment includes a silicate kogation clearing logic configured to pulse the heating resistor at a high frequency and low pulse width to heat the resistor surface to a temperature below that required to form an ink bubble and thus below that required to eject a drop of ink. Heating the resistor facilitates breaking bonds between the silicate based kogation and the heating resistor.

One embodiment of a method of storing a printhead includes opening a valve to a vent of an ink reservoir, operating a pump in a first direction to pull ink from the ink reservoir through said valve, and pumping the ink pulled from the ink reservoir to an ink supply container.

A valve mechanism and a method for preparing an inkjet print cartridge and printer for inactivity is herein disclosed. Pressurized fluid is introduced to a standpipe volume to create a pressure differential that forces ink within the standpipe into an ink reservoir.

Printhead de-priming

An inkjet printhead and a method for increasing the shelf life thereof are herein disclosed. The inkjet printhead has one or more nozzles for dispensing a colorant. These nozzles are fluidically connected to a reservoir. A first colorant substantially fills the nozzles while a second colorant is reserved in the reservoir.

Method and apparatus for reducing nozzle failure in stored inkjet printheads

Methods and apparatus are provided for forming a seal between two or more components using a thermally cured sealing material. One exemplary method includes selectively applying an electrical signal to a heating trace on a first component, applying a sealing material between at least a portion of the first component and at least a portion of a second component, and at least partially thermally curing the sealing material using thermal energy generated by the application of the electrical signal to the heating trace.

Methods and apparatus for curing a thermal sealing material using a heater trace

An inkjet print cartridge is provided in a printer for removable installation in a carriage which typically holds a plurality of print cartridges of different color printing liquids. In order to minimize overall size of the printer and its carriage, a handle is pivotally mounted on a crown of the print cartridge to move from a down recessed position during normal printing and servicing operations to an upraised position for gripping while removing the printhead from a carriage chute. The handle forms a loop to facilitate gripping with the fingers and thumb, and in its preferred form is bendable in order to provide flexible yielding upon application of undesirable lateral or torsional forces during a removal procedure.
