A detergent composition with especially good foaming properties includes a di(C.sub.8 alkyl) sulphosuccinate, a di(C.sub.6 alkyl) sulphosuccinate and a further detergent-active agent which is preferably selected from alkyl ether sulphates, nonionic detergents and mixtures thereof. The detergent composition is preferably in liquid form and is suitable inter alia for shampoos, fabric washing and, in particular, manual dishwashing.

Detergent compositions containing sulphosuccinate mixtures

A detergent composition with especially good foaming properties includes a di(C.sub.7 -C.sub.9) alkyl sulphosuccinate, preferably a di(C.sub.8 alkyl) sulphosuccinate, and an unsymmetrical dialkyl sulphosuccinate in which one alkyl group is C.sub.7 -C.sub.9 and the other is C.sub.3 -C.sub.6, preferably a (C.sub.6 alkyl) (C.sub.8 alkyl) sulphosuccinate. A di(C.sub.3 -C.sub.6) alkyl sulphosuccinate may advantageously be present. An especially preferred mixture comprises di(n-octyl), (n-octyl n-hexyl) and di(n-hexyl) sulphosuccinates, and this mixture may be prepared by esterifying maleic anhydride or the like with a mixture of n-octanol and n-butanol, followed by bisulphite addition. The detergent composition is preferably in liquid form and is suitable for shampoos, fabric washing and, in particular, manual dishwashing.

Detergent compositions useful more particularly, but not exclusively, for dishwashing, comprising as active detergent ingredient a C.sub.10 -C.sub.18 secondary alkyl sulphate, said secondary alkyl sulphate containing up to 50% of 2/3 sulphate isomers and at least 40% of effective isomers selected from the group consisting of C.sub.14.sup.-2, C.sub.15.sup.-2/3/4/5/6, C.sub.16.sup.-3/4/5/6/7 and C.sub.17.sup.-7/8/9 isomers, and mixtures thereof. Preferred compositions having improved dishwashing properties comprise further a co-surfactant and an alkylbenzene sulphonate.

Detergent compositions containing alkyl sulfate isomers

An improved cleaning composition, comprising an amine oxide, an alkylether sulphate, casein and optionally other nonionic detergent compounds and an organophosphorus compound. The composition, which is free from alkylbenzene sulphonates, alkyl sulphonates and alkyl sulphates, has improved drain-dry properties and improved mildness properties.
