A head-mountable display device includes a housing defining a front opening and a rear opening, a display screen disposed in the front opening, a display assembly disposed in the rear opening, a first securement strap coupled to the housing, the first securement strap including a first electronic component, a second securement strap coupled to the housing, the second securement strap including a second electronic component, and a securement band extending between and coupled to the first securement strap and the second securement strap.

A head-mounted display configured to be worn by a user includes a housing and a headband configured to secure the housing to a head of the user. The headband includes a proximal end coupled to the housing and a distal end that is free from connection to the housing. The head-mounted display includes an adjustment mechanism configured to change a fit of the headband relative to the head of the user.

A display assembly includes a curved display having pixels, a front cover, a curved lenticular lens array disposed between the display and the front cover, and a blinker film disposed between the curved lenticular lens array and the front cover, the blinker film and the curved lenticular lens array defining an air gap between the blinker film and the curve lenticular lens array.

A head-mounted display to be worn by a user includes a housing, and an eye chamber to be positioned adjacent to eyes of the user. A support assembly includes a headband and an adjustment mechanism that is operable to change fit of the headband relative to the head of the user in response to a control signal, wherein the adjustment mechanism includes a feedback component, and the control signal is generated based on output from the feedback component.

A display system, such as a wearable display device, includes a system housing including a cavity having a linear axis extending generally in parallel with first and second side walls enclosing the cavity and a display stack enclosed within the cavity and movable along the linear axis. The display stack includes a display panel and a support chassis configured to support a first side of the display panel and thermally couple the display panel to the first side wall to facilitate heat transfer from the display panel, across the support chassis, and to the system housing The display stack includes a heat sink configured for support by a second side of the display panel and to thermally couple the display panel to the second side wall to facilitate heat transfer from the display panel, across the heat sink, and to the system housing.

Structural thermal solutions for display devices

A head-mounted device may include a display system and an optical system in a housing. The display system may have displays that produce images. The optical system may have Fresnel lenses through which a user of the head-mounted device may view the images. The Fresnel lenses may have concentric rings with slope facets and draft facets angled parallel to the chief rays. Light scattering in the Fresnel lenses may be reduced by coating the draft facets with opaque masking material and/or by aligning concentric rings of the opaque masking material that are supported on a transparent substrate with the draft facets. A central portion of the Fresnel lens that is free of facets may be enlarged to reduce scattering. The Fresnel lenses may have wedge-shaped cross-sectional profiles and may have outer portions that are thicker than inner portions. Gradient-index material may be used in forming the Fresnel lenses.

In one aspect of the present disclosure, a display system is disclosed, such as a wearable head-mounted display (HMD), that includes an internal system housing and a movable display stack. The display stack includes a display panel, a carrier supporting the display panel, and a heat sink that are secured together such that the display panel, the carrier, and the heat sink are movable in unison within the system housing to adjust focus of the display panel. The carrier and/or the heat sink respectively include first and second thermal solutions to facilitate heat transfer away from the display panel, which may include a material having high thermal-conductivity properties and/or any structure that is configured to increase the exposed surface area of the carrier and/or the heat sink, such as projections or extensions (e.g., fins), recesses, slits, openings, or the like.

A watch band can provide both a physical connection and an electrical connection with a watch body of a watch. The watch band is fixed relative to the watch body and an electrical connection is either performed either simultaneously or shortly thereafter. The electrical connection enables data and power transfer between the watch body and the watch band. The electrical connection may also be performed by a secondary user interaction. Secondary user inactions may involve the user sliding, pulling, pushing, or rotating a portion of the watch band or watch body.
