Silver halide photographic elements that are color intermediate motion picture films have at least one green sensitive silver halide emulsion that includes a green sensitizing dye that is a cyanine dye having two oxazole groups in the molecule, and another green sensitizing dye having either two imidazole groups in the molecule or one oxazole group and one thiazole group in the molecule. The molar ratio of the first green sensitizing dye to the second green sensitizing dye is from about 4:1 to about 0.3:1. The magenta dye image forming unit has at least one green sensitive silver halide emulsion layer that comprises predominantly cubic silver iodobromide grains having at least 90 mol % bromide and at least 1 mol % iodide, which grains have an average equivalent spherical diameter (ESD) of less than 0.25 &#x3bc;m.

A silver halide emulsion comprising radiation sensitive silver halide grains exhibiting a face centered cubic crystal lattice structure containing a hexacoordination complex of an iridium ion in which at least half of the coordination sites in the hexacoordination complex are provided by halogen or pseudohalogen ligands, and at least one coordination site is provided by a ligand comprising a azole ring containing a chalcogen atom and a nitrogen atom, wherein the azole ring is substituted at the 5-position with a halide ion. The invention provides emulsions containing with a preferred class of iridium dopants which are especially useful for improving reciprocity performance in silver halide emulsions with minimal or no impact on other aspects of photographic performance. These dopants give a superior balance of reciprocity and other photographic properties compared to other iridium dopants exemplified in the prior art.

A photographic emulsion is disclosed comprised of a dispersing medium and radiation-sensitive grains with greater than 50 percent of total grain projected area being accounted for by tabular grains comprised of (1) a tabular host portion containing greater than 50 mole percent bromide, based on silver, and having spaced parallel {111} major faces, (2) a first epitaxial phase containing greater than 90 mole percent iodide, based on silver, accounting for less than 60 percent of total silver and overlying from 15 to 90 percent of the major faces, and (3) surface silver halide of a face centered cubic crystal lattice structure overlying at least a portion of the first epitaxial phase.

A photographic emulsion comprised of high chloride radiation-sensitive tabular grains comprised of a tabular host portion containing greater than 50 mole percent chloride, based on silver, and having spaced parallel {100} major faces, a high chloride shell accounting for at least 4 percent of total silver surrounding the host portion and, interposed between the shell and the host portion an internal epitaxial phase containing greater than 90 mole percent iodide, based on silver, overlying from 15 to 90 percent of the major faces of the host portion.

A photographic emulsion is disclosed comprised of a dispersing medium and radiation-sensitive silver halide grains with greater than 50 percent of total grain projected area being accounted for by grains containing a host portion of a face centered cubic rock salt crystal lattice structure and a first epitaxial phase containing greater than 90 mole percent iodide. The host portion is tabular, being bounded by an exterior having first and second parallel major faces joined by a peripheral edge. The first epitaxial phase accounts for less than 60 percent of total silver, and the first epitaxial phase is restricted to a portion of the exterior of the host portion that includes at least 15 percent of the major faces.
