Provided are techniques for providing a global unique identifier for a storage volume. Under control of a storage initiator, a Global Universally Unique Identifier (GUUID) is identified for a storage volume of a storage device in a cloud system storing a plurality of storage devices, wherein the GUUID is generated for use with an ATA over Ethernet (AoE) protocol. The GUUID is stored in bytes of a packet header structure. Metadata is stored in remaining portions of the packet header structure. A request with the packet header structure is sent to a storage target.

Providing a global unique identifier for a storage volume

Virtual servers are monitored in real-time. A group of virtual servers from virtual server events occurring within a time window is identified by a computer system in real-time. A metric is determined for the group of virtual servers by the computer system in real-time using the virtual server events occurring within the time window for the group of virtual servers. A set of actions is performed by the computer system using the metric.

Virtual server creation monitoring and resource allocation system

A plurality of fabric controllers distributed throughout a fabric attached architecture and each associated with at least one resource node. The plurality of fabric controllers configured to control each associated resource node. Resources of the resource nodes are utilized in virtual environments responsive to respective fabric controllers issuing instructions received from the fabric attached architecture to respective resource nodes.

Large scale fabric attached architecture

Preparing a plurality of computer nodes to boot in a multidimensional fabric network is provided. The method includes a fabric processor (FP) generating a plurality of DHCP discovery packets using a baseboard management controller (BMC) MAC address, and placing them into the multi-host switch. A dedicated connection directly connects the BMC and the FP. All ports of the multi-host switch broadcast DHCP discovery packets into the fabric network. The BMC, FP, and switch are all within the node. A designated exit node inside the fabric connects to a provisioning node not part of the fabric. The exit node relays DHCP traffic from the fabric. A location-based IP address uniquely identifies the nodes' physical location in the fabric. The IP address is calculated based on inventory records describing physical location information about the nodes. The FP calculates a host MAC address using its IP address and configures it onto the switch.

Preparing computer nodes to boot in a multidimensional torus fabric network

A system may receive information associated with a write operation to be performed on a data volume. The data volume may be maintained by one or more cloud resources within a cloud computing environment. The system may determine that a snapshot of the data volume is to be created based on receiving the information associated with the write operation. The system may generate a snapshot command based on determining that the snapshot is to be created. The system may create snapshots at the one or more cloud resources based on the snapshot command. The snapshot command may be issued at each of the one or more cloud resources to cause the snapshots to be consistent across the one or more cloud resources. The system may store the snapshots.

Volume snapshot in a shared environment

A device may receive information associated with a write operation to be performed on a storage volume included in a cloud computing environment, and may divide the information into a group of write frames. Each write frame may include a respective portion of the information. The device may determine information that identifies members of a replication set associated with the storage volume. The device may provide each write frame to each member. The device may receive a reply frame, associated with a write frame, from a member. The device may determine that the reply frame is a last reply frame associated with the write frame and may modify source information to form a modified reply frame. The device may provide the modified reply frame. The modified reply frame may be provided to indicate that the portion of the write operation, associated with the write frame, has been successfully performed.

Frame based data replication in a cloud computing environment

A device may receive agreement information associated with a customer of a cloud computing service. The agreement information may be based on input associated with the customer. The device may generate replication policy information based on the agreement information. The replication policy information may identify multiple replication sets, each including replication information. The device may identify data, associated with the customer, to be stored or processed by a cloud computing resource associated with the cloud computing service. The device may determine the replication set information, associated with each replication set, based on the replication policy information. The replication set information may identify at least one computing resource to store or process the data. The device may forward the data to the at least one computing resource based on the replication set information.
