A system for administering a medicament includes a plurality of capsules, a capsule dispenser, and a capsule activator. Each of the capsules includes a reservoir containing a medicament and an outlet in communication with the reservoir through which the medicament exits the capsule. The capsule dispenser releasably contains the ingestible capsules and is adapted to dispense the capsules to a user in accordance with a predetermined schedule. The capsule activator activates the dispensed capsules prior to administration to the user.

A method for enhancing a video image by processing a video signal includes inputting a video signal and boosting color saturation or lightness of the video signal as a its hue gets closer to a secondary color, and/or shifting the hue of the video signal toward one or more secondary colors. A system and method for motion compensation of color sequential displays, receiving a motion image data input, extracting an estimate of a motion of an image portion represented in said image data input with a motion estimator, and calculating, for a time instance of display of each image subframe of an image frame, a compensated representation for reducing display artifacts with a processor, wherein each subframe represents a different aspect of the image frame. The subframes are preferably different color planes of the image frame. The processor preferably performs a bilinear interpolation where the compensated image boundary does not fall on a display pixel boundary. The motion compensation algorithm is preferably robust in the face of erroneous motion vectors. The system and method is advantageously used in single panel liquid crystal display projection systems, although the techniques are applicable to various image display technologies.

A digital image projector includes an illumination-light source lamp and illumination beam forming optics for forming a white-spectrum illumination beam and color-band-separation optics to divide the illumination beam into color-component subbeams. The digital image projector also includes a reflective digital-image-encoding polarization modulator mechanism such as a reflective liquid crystal display polarization modulator to reflectively modulate the linearly polarized subbeams to form color-component image encoded-polarization subbeams and projection lens optics for projecting a color image divided from the image encoded-polarization subbeams. The digital image projector further includes a plate-supported, surface mounted fixed polarization-axis polarizing beamsplitter such as a wire-grid polarizing beamsplitter for dividing the color image from the image-encoded-polarization subbeams in which a polarizer support plate of the polarizing beamsplitter faces an illumination-source side of the optical system of the projector.

An offset rear projection display system for displaying an image of an object as a projected image includes a projection lens optically offset from the center of the object, a screen including a light spreading layer, and a mirror disposed to reflect the projected image of the object projected by the projection lens onto the screen.

A prism is mounted onto a motor without regard to its rotation angle relative to the motor index. Its position is electronically set later after construction of the optical path. A motor controller is used to control the rotation of the prism. This motor controller keeps the prism spinning at a constant velocity and positions the prism phase (rotation angle versus time). A variable offset is used to position the absolute prism rotation as a function of time. The phase may be advanced or delayed by an operator during set up. Each prism has its own phase. The phase of each prism in the system is set so that the illumination pattern correctly matches the video addressing of the panel. This is a one time set up during construction. The correct positions are set, and stored in non-volatile memory for life.

Backlighting is provided for an LCD-TV display by directing light from a source into an open end of a cylindrical drum, the other end of which is closed. The drum has a highly reflective inside surface and a beam is directed through an orifice in the cylindrical wall of the drum. A plurality of optical fibers are positioned with one end of each on a circle coaxial with the drum and the other end of each attached along one edge of the panel to which backlighting is provided. The drum, and thus the beam, is rotated about its axis at constant angular velocity, providing light sequentially to each of the fibers with resulting scrolling of the light across the panel behind the LCD array.

A rear-projection display system comprises a light engine, a beam-splitter that receives light from the light engine, a projection lens that receives an image from the beam-splitter, a rear-projection screen, and a mirror that receives the image from the projection lens and reflects it onto the screen. The beam-splitter has a reflecting element, receives an image, and reflects the image off the reflecting element at an angle of incidence that is substantially unequal to 45 degrees.

An image projection system having a reflective imaging device and a projection device, characterized in that a quarter wave plate is provided between the reflective imaging device and projection lens in such manner as to suppress reflections from the projection lens from reaching the reflective imaging device while minimizing reflections from its own surface reaching the reflective imaging device. Preferably, the quarter wave plate is laminated to a polarizing beamsplitter exit face or to an optional linear polarizer sheet, to eliminate an air interface.

Compensation of lateral-color chromatic-aberration effects in a digital color-graphics projection display is achieved by providing projection optics for the projection display which is nontelecentric to a certain degree to establish an angled geometry for gathering light off axis for projection by the projection optics and by providing a plurality of component-primary-color object planes for object digital graphics of different primary colors to be projectively displayed through the projection optics. At least two of the component-primary-color object planes are located at different effective axial distances from the projection optics. The effective axial distances of the object planes from the projection optics are respectively keyed to the angled nature of the off-axis light gathering of the projection optics and to the lateral-color chromatic-aberration differences in lateral magnification by the projection optics at different primary colors so that such color-dependent differences in lateral magnification tend to be compensated.
