A motor is disclosed. The motor includes a first end bell, a second end bell and a stator with a stator coil disposed between the first end bell and the second end bell. A rotor with a rotor shaft is disposed relative to the stator, the rotor configured to rotate relative to the stator and the rotor shaft extending through the first end bell. The second end bell includes a chamber, the chamber includes an electronic circuit and a connector. The connector is electrically coupled to the electronic circuit and configured to receive both a control signal and a power signal from an external source.

A step motor and servo motor indexer (10) having an improved user interface (14) wherein an input capability for programming a full range of program parameters and values is provided, yet where the user input system (20) has few components. The user input system (20) for programming the indexer (10) is characterized by having a data entry unit (26) which includes only a toggle device (27) and a rotary device (28), both of which may be combined into a single component part. In addition to the typical turned clockwise and turned counter clockwise modes of the rotary device (28) the use of the rate of rotation permits an additional input mode which is used to accomplish rotational or software ballistics to input large ranges of values during programming of the indexer (10). The user interface (14) further includes a display (22), for presenting program choices and values to user during programming, and for reporting running parameters. The indexer (10) further includes a stop button (24) to halt operation of the indexer (10) when it is running.

Step motor and servo motor indexer

A three phase DC motor (10) including a rotor portion (12) and a stator portion (16). The rotor portion (12) includes 6N.+-.2 permanent magnet poles (32), and the stator portion(16) includes 6N electromagnet poles where N in an integer. The motor (10) is characterized in that it has a high pole density, thus enabling improved efficiency, while retaining acceptable non constant torque characteristics. Since the inventive motor configuration provides for a symmetrical winding pattern, no assymetrical radial forces are produced. The inventive configuration further allows for small motor size in the height dimension. A first preferred embodiment of the motor (10) is adapted for three phase power to be connected to the motor windings (50), (56) and (58) in a 'Y' fashion. An alternate preferred embodiment of the invention (610) has coil windings (650), (656) and (658) connected in delta configuration.

High pole density three phase motor

A two phase unipolar brushless direct current motor with asymmetrically arranged pole positions including a rotor portion (12) mounted upon a shaft subassembly (14) and rotating therewith with respect to a stator portion (16). The rotor portion (12) includes a field magnet (22) which is divided into alternately polarized zones (26) and (28) which are of dissimilar sizes, and a commutator magnet (38) to provide for electrical timing. The stator portion (16) includes salient pole positions (44) which are asymmetrically arranged around the circumference of the stator core. A latching hall effect sensor (82) is also provided to act as a commutator triggering element. The motor (10) is characterized in that the asymmetrical arrangement of its magnetic elements prevents there being a zero torque or a detent position. The primary usage of the motor (10) is in digital data storage devices.
