A power converter may include an input for receiving an input signal and output for generating an intermediate signal that is a power converted signal from the input signal wherein the intermediate signal is determined based on various parameters of a signal path that utilizes the intermediate signal, wherein the various parameters comprise one or more of the following: a peak output signal of the signal path, energy requested over a period of time by the signal path, available energy from an energy source to the power converter, stored energy at an output of the power converter, and stored energy of a battery for providing electrical energy at the input.

Signal tracking-based supply voltage generation with over-boosted voltage

In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, a system may include a circuit having a power converter and an amplifier, wherein the power converter is configured to generate an intermediate voltage, provide the intermediate voltage as an amplifier supply voltage to the amplifier, and share the intermediate voltage with one or more additional circuits external to the circuit, wherein at least one of the one or more additional circuits is configured to generate the intermediate voltage.

Multi-phase power converter system using multiple amplifier integrated circuits

A method may include monitoring an input power supply, monitoring an inductance of an inductor of a boost converter, monitoring one or more other characteristics of the boost converter, and calculating a target peak inductor current based on the input power supply voltage, the inductance, the one or more other characteristics of the boost converter, and a target average current of the inductor during a switching cycle of the boost converter. A method may include monitoring an input power supply voltage, monitoring an inductance of an inductor of a boost converter, monitoring one or more other characteristics of the boost converter, and calculating an average current of the inductor during a switching cycle of the boost converter based on the input power supply voltage, the inductance, the one or more other characteristics of the boost converter, and a peak inductor current of the inductor.

Adjusting peak inductor current to limit supply input current

An audio power output circuit provides a pair of output signals to an audio output transducer that has two different voice coils. Using a measured or predicted position of the voice coil assembly with respect to the transducer's magnetic field, a processing circuit generates the pair of signals such that a first relationship between a first one of the pair of output signals and an audio input signal and a second relationship between a second one of the pair of the output signals vary with the position of the voice coil. Offset in the Dynamic Mean Position (DMP) can be compensated for without adding low frequency or direct current components that compromise the dynamic range of the transducer. The efficiency, acoustic output power and/or linearity of the acoustic output of the transducer may be optimized by tailoring the first and second relationship to a particular target performance.

Current vectoring to electroacoustic output transducers having multiple voice coils

An audio or haptic power output system manages and delivers power to multiple output transducers based on corresponding power or current limits that are adjusted dynamically according to measures of power or current that are required to generate power output signals from corresponding digital input values or signals. A power management subsystem controls electrical power or current consumed by power output stages that supply power to the transducers by comparing the measures of power or current required to generate the power output signals to the corresponding power or current limits, and limiting the power or current consumed by the individual power output stages measures of power or current exceeds the corresponding limits.

Dynamic power/current allocation among groups of audio amplifiers and/or haptic drivers

A DC-DC converter and a corresponding method for maintaining an output voltage of the DC-DC converter, wherein the DC-DC converter is configured to operate in a discontinuous conduction mode, within a predetermined voltage range. The method comprises adjusting a duty cycle of the DC-DC converter based on the output voltage to maintain the output voltage within a predetermined voltage range; wherein the duty cycle of the DC-DC converter is adjusted by switching between a first switching frequency to a second switching frequency, and the first switching frequency and the second switching frequency are selected such that the first switching frequency and the second switching frequency fall outside of at least one predefined disallowed frequency band.

Maintaining output voltage of DC-DC converter in discontinuous conduction mode

A DC-DC converter and corresponding method for transitioning between a discontinuous conduction mode, DCM, and a continuous conduction mode, CCM, wherein the DC-DC converter is configured to power a signal processing system within an integrated circuit, is provided. The method comprises receiving input data, wherein the input data is for inputting into the signal processing system; determining an amplitude of the input data; and transitioning between DCM and CCM based on the amplitude of the input data. A DC-DC converter and respective method for transitioning from CCM to DCM comprising determining an estimated current representative of an inductor current through an inductor of the DC-DC converter; and transitioning from CCM to DCM based on the estimated current, is provided. A DC-DC converter and respective method for transitioning from DCM to CCM comprising determining either an output voltage of the DC-DC converter or a duty cycle of the DC-DC converter; and transitioning from DCM to CCM based on the determined output voltage or duty cycle of the DC-DC converter, is provided.

A distributed network system may include a shared communication bus that operates in accordance with a communication protocol and a plurality of devices coupled to the bus. In accordance with the communication protocol, when one or more of the plurality of devices is actively transmitting data on the bus, each of the plurality of devices receives data via the bus such that bidirectional communication is established among the plurality of devices via the bus, each of the plurality of devices monitors a bus state of the shared communication bus to avoid data contention and to synchronize receipt of encoded symbols and encoded messages comprising encoded symbols via the bus, and each actively transmitting device of the plurality of devices compares the bus state to a desired state of such actively transmitting device to determine a priority among actively transmitting devices of the plurality of devices with respect to the bus.

Encoding for multi-device synchronization of devices

A predictive brownout prevention system may be configured to prevent brownout of an audio output signal. Particularly, the brownout prevention system may be configured to receive information indicative of an amplitude of the audio input signal, receive information indicative of a condition of the power supply, receive information indicative of one or more of the following: 1) adaptive estimates of power supply conditions; 2) anticipated effects of power supply capacitance; and 3) condition of a load impedance, determine from the received information whether a brownout condition exists, and responsive to determining the brownout condition exists, generate the selectable attenuation signal to reduce an amplitude of the audio output signal such that the signal path attenuates the audio input signal or a derivative thereof in order to prevent brownout prior to propagation to the audio output of a portion of the audio input signal having the brownout condition.

Method for limiting amplifier input current to avoid low voltage conditions

A predictive brownout prevention system may be configured to prevent brownout of an audio output signal. Particularly, the brownout prevention system may be configured to receive information indicative of adaptive estimates of power supply conditions, wherein the information indicative of adaptive estimates of the power supply conditions comprises information regarding a voltage component and a resistive component received from an adaptive battery model of a battery for providing electrical energy to a power supply for generating the power supply voltage and adapt the adaptive battery model based on a monitored battery voltage output by the battery and loading events of the signal path and excluding loading events of components other than the signal path which are powered from the battery.

A distributed network system may include a shared communication bus that operates in accordance with a communication protocol and a plurality of devices coupled to the shared communication bus. The communication protocol may define periods of time and an order by which each of the plurality of devices actively transmit data on the shared communication bus such that only one of the plurality of devices actively transmits data on the shared communication bus at a time to a remaining number of the plurality of devices through the shared communication bus. When the remaining number of the plurality of devices are not actively transmitting data, the remaining number of the plurality of devices may receive data via the shared communication bus so that bi-directional communication is established among the plurality of devices on the shared communication bus.

Multi-device synchronization of devices

A predictive brownout prevention system may be configured to prevent brownout of an audio output signal. Particularly, the brownout prevention system may be configured to receive information indicative of an amplitude of the audio input signal, receive information indicative of a condition of the power supply, determine from the information indicative of an amplitude of the audio input signal and the information indicative of the condition of the power supply whether a brownout condition exists, and responsive to determining the brownout condition exists, generate the selectable attenuation signal to reduce an amplitude of the audio output signal such that the signal path attenuates the audio input signal or a derivative thereof in order to prevent brownout prior to propagation to the audio output of a portion of the audio input signal having the brownout condition.
