A method for aligning a photoconductor cartridge () in an electrophotographic device includes providing at least two holes in a first end of the cartridge. At least two pins () are provided in a frame of the electrophotographic device which mate with the holes in the first end of the cartridge when the cartridge is inserted in the electrophotographic device. A drive mechanism contacts a spherical bearing of a photoconductor of the cartridge and drives a pair of drive dogs. One drive dog is affixed to a spline on the drive mechanism and a second drive dog is affixed to the spherical bearing. At least one hole is provided in a second end of the cartridge. At least one pin is provided in a frame of the electrophotographic device which mate with the hole in the second end of the cartridge when the cartridge is inserted in the electrophotographic device.

A toggle changes the state of the status recorder of the first toner bottle in the waste receptacle to the supply state, so that the waste toner in the waste volume of the first toner bottle is made available to be used as supply toner in the supply receptacle.

A system for collecting waste toner or developer in an electrophotographic printer includes a waste collection tube for collecting waste toner or developer in an electrophotographic module. An auger transports waste toner or developer from the collection tube through a transport tube to a waste container. A spring has a first end in the collection tube and a second end fixed within the transport tube of the auger. An elbow of the spring rides on the auger and the motion of the auger causes the spring to oscillate in the collection tube.

A developer roller is mounted within the housing for delivering developer material to a development zone, the developer roller including a core magnet inside a shell, the core magnet and the shell having relative rotation. A transport mechanism is provided for delivering developer material from the reservoir to the development roller. A metering skive is provided for establishing a developer material metering gap between the metering skive and the developer roller for controlling the quantity of developer material delivered from the reservoir portion of the housing to the development zone. A mechanism is provided for selectively moving the metering skive to an operative position relative to the developer roller and to a position remote from the developer roller, wherein build up of contamination can be substantially prevented.
