An aspect of the present disclosure is directed to a connector. The connector is suited to connectorizing exactly two conductors. The connector includes a forward connector body, a rear connector body, a metal frame and exactly two electrical contacts. The rear connector body interfaces with the forward connector body. Further, the metal frame, which includes a shielding interface, surrounds at least a portion of both the forward and rear connector bodies. The electrical contacts extend from the rear connector body into the forward connector body. A first of the electrical contacts is electrically coupled to a first conductor of a shielded cable and the second of the electrical contacts is electrically coupled to a second conductor of the shielded cable. The shield interface of the metal frame is electrically coupled to the shield of the shielded cable.

Connectors and contacts for a single twisted pair of conductors

A modular plug for terminating a telecommunications cable includes a housing, a plurality of wire contacts, and a wire manager fitted in an internal cavity of the housing. The wire manager includes internal walls shaping a central channel, opposing edges on the internal walls defining a gate in the central channel, and tabs projecting from the gate in the central channel. The tabs define an upper portion and a lower portion in the gate. A strain relief member attaches to the wire manager in an intermediate position to partially restrain the telecommunications cable relative to the wire manager, and is restrained by the housing in a final position to completely restrain the telecommunications cable relative to the wire manager.

Modular telecommunications plug and method

A modular plug is disclosed as having a housing, a wire manager, an anti-snag protector, and a load bar each configured to snap-fit together to assemble the modular plug. The wire manager includes a front portion fitted within an internal cavity of the housing and a rear portion having an aperture configured to receive a terminal end of a telecommunications cable. The wire manager includes a plurality of channels, each channel having a gate configured to position a twisted pair of wires from the telecommunications cable in a stacked vertical arrangement.

A modular plug is disclosed as having a housing, a wire manager, a load bar, and a rear component each configured to snap-fit together to assemble the modular plug. The wire manager has a plurality of channels axially positioned about a central axis, each channel being configured to receive a twisted pair of wires from a telecommunications cable, and each channel having a first width and a gate having a second width smaller than the first width.

An inline communications connector is provided that includes a housing and tip and ring contacts that are mounted in the housing. The tip contact includes an input tip socket, an output tip socket and a tip socket connection section that physically and electrically connects the input and output tip sockets. The ring contact includes an input ring socket, an output ring socket and a ring socket connection section that physically and electrically connects the input and output ring sockets. The input tip socket is not collinear with the output tip socket and the input ring socket is not collinear with the output ring socket.

High data rate connectors and cable assemblies that are suitable for harsh environments and related methods and systems

A communications plug includes a housing, a printed circuit board that is at least partially within the housing, first through eighth plug contacts mounted adjacent a front edge of the printed circuit board, and first through eighth wire connection terminals having insulation cutting blades, where at least some of the insulation cutting blades are mounted rearwardly of a rear edge of the printed circuit board.

Printed circuit board based communications plugs that are suitable for field termination and patch cords including such plugs

Patch cords include a cable having eight conductors that are twisted together to form four differential pairs of conductors and a plug that is attached to the cable. The plug includes a housing, a printed circuit board, and respective first through eighth plug contacts that are electrically connected to the respective first through eighth conductors via respective first through eighth conductive paths on the printed circuit board. The plug contacts are arranged in a row in numerical order. The plug includes a wire guide that has a top shelf that extends above the printed circuit board and a bottom shelf that extends below the printed circuit board. Two of the differential pairs are routed into respective first and second channels in the top shelf and the other two of the differential pairs are routed into respective third and fourth channels in the bottom shelf.

Low crosstalk printed circuit board based communications plugs and patch cords including such plugs

Communications interfaces are provided that include a connector port that has housing that defines a plug aperture and at least first through eighth contacts that extend into the plug aperture. These communications interfaces further include an Ethernet interface (e.g., an Ethernet switch) and a multi-drop communication interface (e.g., an RS-485 transceiver). First through fourth conductive paths are provided that electrically connect the respective first through fourth contacts of the connector port to the Ethernet interface. Fifth and sixth conductive paths are provided that electrically connect the respective fifth and sixth contacts of the connector port to the multi-drop communication interface.
