A tumescent composition including a cannabinoid dissolved in a tumescent solution, wherein the tumescent solution includes a local anesthetic; a vasoconstrictor; and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, wherein a tumescent concentration of the cannabinoid is 1-2000 μg/kg and is simultaneously: below a threshold for local, subcutaneous tissue toxicity, above a threshold for positive local therapeutic effect, and above a concentration safely achievable by intravenous (IV), intramuscular (IM) or oral (PO) delivery. Also disclosed are methods of subcutaneous delivery of a cannabinoid to a subject including administering to the subject the tumescent composition.

Tumescent infiltration drug delivery of cannabinoids

A method of subcutaneous delivery of a drug or a therapeutic agent to a subject to treat a localized condition, the method including obtaining a liquid composition including the drug or the therapeutic agent dissolved in a tumescent solution, wherein the tumescent solution includes the drug or the therapeutic agent a vasoconstrictor; and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier; and delivering a mass of the liquid composition subcutaneously to a localized tissue in the subject, wherein the drug or the therapeutic agent treats the localized condition in the localized tissue, wherein a concentration of the drug or the therapeutic agent subcutaneously delivered exceeds a concentration of the drug or the therapeutic agent that can be safely achieved by intravenous delivery, and wherein an amount of the drug or the therapeutic agent located at an outer boundary of the mass of fluid and available for absorption is less than an amount of the drug or the therapeutic agent located within a central portion of the mass of fluid and virtually isolated from the systemic circulation by virtue of capillary vasoconstriction.

Tumescent drug delivery

An air inflatable and thus collapsible when air is removed, safety helmet preferably comprised of multiple inflatable lobes with a head conforming and surrounding inflatable ring and separate or integrated skull cap, for wear by the user, for placement on top of the lobes and/or for location within the chamber(s) formed of the lobes, or worn by the wearer directly upon the head, made of flexible, force absorbing and dissipating material. The lobes and ring are provided with quick release air inflation and deflation valves. The safety helmet can simply alternatively comprise air inflatable lobes with a minimally elastic outer covering to encase and minimize the movement or air within the chambers during a collision.

A tumescent contravenom solution including: (a) a vasoconstrictor, (b) a physiological crystalloid solution, and (c) optionally a contravenom agent that neutralizes tissue toxic enzymes present in a venom and/or a drug that impairs or paralyzes lymphatic smooth muscle function and impairs lymphatic transport of venom. Also described are methods of treating an envenomation in a subject, and a kit for performing the method of treating an envenomation.

Tumescent contravenom drug delivery

Disclosed are methods of subcutaneous delivery of a drug or a therapeutic agent to a subject comprising administering to said subject a tumescent composition comprising: (a) the drug or the therapeutic agent, wherein a tumescent concentration of the drug is simultaneously: 1) below a threshold for local, subcutaneous tissue toxicity, 2) above a threshold for positive local therapeutic effect, and 3) above a concentration achievable by intravenous (IV), intramuscular (IM) or oral (PO) delivery; (b) a vasoconstrictor; and (c) a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier. Some embodiments relate to a method of treating or preventing sepsis or Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS) in a subject. Some embodiments relate to a tumescent solution for treating a localized viral infection, e.g., varicella-zoster (shingles), the tumescent solution comprising an antiviral agent.

A method of subcutaneous delivery of a drug or a therapeutic agent to a subject comprising administering to said subject a mass of fluid of a tumescent composition comprising: (a) the drug or the therapeutic agent; (b) a vasoconstrictor; and (c) a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, wherein a relatively large total amount of the drug is isolated from systemic circulation in the subject because only drug in an outer boundary of the mass of fluid is the available for absorption, whereas a portion of the drug located within a central portion of the mass of fluid is virtually isolated from the systemic circulation by virtue of profound capillary vasoconstriction, wherein epinephrine-induced vasoconstriction dramatically slows systemic absorption of the drug or therapeutic agent, and wherein the mass of fluid is a reservoir that delivers the drug or the therapeutic agent to the subject with pharmacokinetics that are analogous to a slow-release oral tablet or a slow constant intravenous (IV) Infusion.

Disclosed herein are solutions and kits for tumescent antibiotic delivery. Embodiments of the solution comprise an antibiotic component, an anesthetic component and a vasoconstrictor component. In addition, a method of use is disclosed comprising subcutaneous delivery of the solution. The disclosed solution, kit and method of subcutaneous delivery can be used for a variety of surgical procedures including liposuction, mastectomy and others. The tumescent antibiotic solution can be administered to a patient in situations where establishing IV access is difficult, impossible, or undesirable. A variety of delivery methods appropriate for surgical settings, as well as for use by first responders are likewise disclosed.

The various embodiments of the present invention relate to remote pneumatic (bellows-action) actuators for switching applications, which are preferably sterile and/or disposable. When compressed, the bellows-action actuator provides a pulse of air pressure sufficient to actuate a remotely-located pneumatic switch configured to turn on/off an electrical, mechanical or optical device. The pulse of air pressure is propagated along a non-conducting tube, thereby substantially reducing the risk of e.g., electric shock or Oignition/combustion associated with conventional electric switches in wet, hazardous or medical environments.

A peristaltic pump system includes elastomeric pump tubing and a roller pump. The pump tubing has a pumping segment and an inlet segment. The inlet segment has an inlet segment outer diameter. The pumping segment has a pumping segment outer diameter less than the inlet segment outer diameter. The roller pump has a roller assembly and a roller assembly housing. The roller assembly is disposed within the roller assembly housing and engaged with the pumping segment within the roller assembly housing. The roller assembly housing has an inlet gap formed through the roller assembly housing. The inlet gap defines an inlet gap inner diameter smaller than the pumping segment outer diameter. The inlet gap is adapted to frictionally receive the inlet segment for aligning the pump tubing with a roller assembly and mitigate longitudinal movement of the pump tubing into the roller assembly housing.

An infiltration cannula and method of using the infiltration cannula during a tumescent infiltration procedure are disclosed herein. The infiltration cannula may have an outwardly flaring hub which may be wedged into an adit of a patient to minimize leakage of fluid being infiltrated into the patient. Also, the infiltration cannula may be utilized to hydrate a dehydrated patient by a medically untrained person. The infiltration cannula may also be used to deliver an antibiotic/vasoconstrictive drug solution to minimize surgical site infections.
