A sensor assembly and a refrigerant sensing system for air conditioning systems can include a sensor controller, a sensor electrically connected to the sensor controller and configured to output sensor data to the sensor controller, and a housing having an interior space enclosing the sensor controller and the sensor. The housing includes a first end and a second end and a barrier disposed between the first end and the second end sealingly separating the interior space. The first end supports the sensor and includes a plurality of openings exposing the sensor to an external environment. The second end supports the sensor controller and substantially prevents the sensor controller from being exposed to the external environment.

Sensor assembly and refrigerant sensing system

A sensor assembly includes a controller, a sensor, and a housing. The housing encloses the controller and sensor and includes a body supporting the controller and a head supporting the sensor. The body prevents exposure of the controller to an external environment, and the head includes slots enabling exposure of the sensor to the external environment.

Sensor assembly

A sensor assembly including a housing having an inlet an outlet and an interior space generally closed from an environment external to the sensor assembly. The interior space of the housing can include an inlet zone, a central zone and an outlet zone. A baffle can be disposed within the central zone of the interior space of the housing and be located between the inlet zone and the outlet zone and nearer to the inlet zone than to the outlet zone. The baffle can extend downwardly from an upper side of the housing. A gas sensor that can be operable to detect a presence of a lower GWP refrigerant can be disposed in the outlet zone of the interior space of the housing. The housing includes a door in a lower side of the housing in the central zone of the housing.

Robust gas sensor for harsh environments

The present invention relates to methods of making compositions for sensor films used for detecting chemical analytes within sensors, such as polymer-absorption chemiresistors (i.e., conductometric sensors). The sensor films have reduced cross-sensitivity to temperature, while maintaining sensitivity to the chemical analytes. The sensor matrix includes components that are associated with a first temperature coefficient of resistance, such as a polymer resin and/or a first conductive particle. The sensor matrix further comprises a second species, preferably a conductive particle, which has a second temperature coefficient of resistance that is opposite to the first temperature coefficient of resistance. The second species has an opposite influence on a resistance response of the sensor from the first species. In this manner, the sensor matrix exhibits a minimized response in resistance to any changes in temperature.

Methods of minimizing temperature cross-sensitivity in vapor sensors and compositions therefor

A chemiresistor sensor system that compensates for changes in resistance caused by changes in ambient temperature, thereby increasing the accuracy of the sensor system's ability to detect target analytes. The sensor system generally includes a first resistor, a second resistor, and a load regulator or switch that is sensitive to changes in ambient temperature. At least one of the first resistor and the second resistor is a sensing element having a resistance that changes in response to the presence of one or more of the analytes. The switch manages an electrical load across the first resistor and the second resistor. The switch prevents passage of the electrical load across the first and/or second resistor when the ambient temperature is at a first value. The switch permits passage of the electrical load across the first and/or second resistor when the ambient temperature is at a second value.

Temperature compensated vapor sensor

The invention provides polymeric PTC compositions and electrical PTC devices with higher voltage capability and improved electrical stability. The PTC compositions of the present invention exhibit improved processability and include at a minimum an organic polymner, a conductive filler and a low molecular weight polyethylene processing aid. Depending on device design, the composition can be used in low to high voltage applications.

An improved flue pipe construction particularly adapted for a fuel fired water heater is disclosed which serves to reduce or minimize heat loss when the water heater is in a standby mode. The flue pipe construction comprises inner and outer concentric flue pipes which define an air space therebetween and one or more valve arrangements associated therewith to selectively restrict air flow through such air space. The valve arrangements include a thermally responsive actuator operative to open and close the valve member in response to heat generated by firing of the burner assembly without the need for any external power supply or interlocks.

A plurality of PTC material layers and a plurality of metal plates are sandwiched together with one adjacent pair of metal plates connected in series through one layer of PTC material. The remaining PTC material layers are connected in parallel with the one layer by selectively interconnecting the other metal plates with the one adjacent pair of metal plates.

The invention provides polymeric PTC compositions and electrical PTC devices with higher voltage capability and improved electrical stability. Depending on device design, the composition can be used in low to high voltage applications 6 volts up to 240 volts.

A thin PTC device that includes a layer of PTC material sandwiched between a pair of metal plates is provided with an increased effective thickness by outwardly extending flanges on at least one of the metal plates. This allows a close fit of the PTC device in a pocket that otherwise would be too large for holding the PTC device properly.
