Uncured aqueous composition comprising surfactant and a blend of (a) a first sulfonated polyester having a glass transition temperature not greater than 75° C. that is not sulfonated polyethylene naphthalate, (b) a second, sulfonated polyester that is a sulfonated polyethylene naphthalate, (c) melamine-formaldehyde crosslinker, and (d) an epoxy silane coupling agent; and cured composition thereof. Compositions described herein are useful, for example, for making primed film for release liners applications.

Composition and article comprising the same

A fluoropolymer coating composition is described comprising an aqueous liquid medium, fluoropolymer particles dispersed in the aqueous liquid medium, and at least one aziridine compound. The aziridine compound comprises at least two aziridine groups (i.e. polyaziridine) or at least one aziridine group and at least one alkoxy silane group. In another embodiment, an article is described comprising a substrate wherein a surface of the substrate comprises a coating comprising fluoropolymer particles; and a reaction product of at least one aziridine compound comprising at least two aziridine groups or at least one aziridine group and at least one alkoxy silane group. The coating can be utilized as a primer for bonding a non-fluorinated substrate to a fluoropolymer film and/or the coating can be used as an (e.g. outer exposed) surface layer. In some embodiments, the article may be the (e.g. backside) film of a photovoltaic module.

An ionic diol has formula wherein Rrepresents an alkyl group having from 6 to 18 carbon atoms; Rand Rindependently represent alkyl groups having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms; Rrepresents an alkylene group having from 2 to 8 carbon atoms; and Rrepresents an alkylene group having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms. Antistatic polymers are formed by copolymerization of monomers including a diisocyanate, an ionic diol, a polyether diol, and at least one non-ionic diols. Methods of making the antistatic polyurethanes are also disclosed.

Polyester polymers are described comprising polymerized units comprising a hydroxy functional aromatic group wherein the hydroxy group has been functionalized with an adhesion promoting group. In some embodiments, the polyester polymer comprises polymerized units have the general structure (A) wherein Land Lare independently divalent linking groups comprising an ester group; and Ris an adhesion promoting group bonded to the oxygen atom by means of an ionic or covalent bond. The present application generally relates to retroreflective articles and methods of making retroreflective articles. Some embodiments include a body layer having an elastic modulus of equal to or greater than 1750 MPa, a plurality of truncated cube corner elements, and a polymeric layer between the body layer and the cube corner elements, the polymeric layer having an elastic modulus of less than 1750 MPa.

A sheet comprising: (1) a core member comprising one or more layers and having a first major surface and (2) a slip control layer disposed on at least a portion of the first major surface, wherein the slip control layer comprises: (i) a footing layer disposed on at least a portion of the first major surface of the core member, (ii) a binder layer disposed on the footing layer, and (iii) an array of particles disposed in the binder layer and footing layer and protruding therefrom, wherein the average diameter of the particles is greater than the combined thickness of the foot layer and binder layer. A process for making such a sheet comprising: (1) providing a core member; (2) forming a footing layer on at least a portion of the first major surface of the core member, wherein the footing layer is viscoelastic and has a Tthat is lower than either the Tor the Tof the polymer at the first major surface of the core member; (3) applying a binder layer composition comprising a film forming polymer and particles to the surface of the footing layer; then (4) tentering the assembly under sufficient heat to soften the footing layer such that the particles sink into the footing layer, wherein the average diameter of the particles is greater than the combined thickness of the footing layer and binder layer.

A textured film, a process for manufacture of the textured film, and a light management stack, a backlight, and a display using the textured film are described. The textured film and process for manufacture thereof, include processes in which the surface texture of the optical film is controlled by incorporation of a patterned coating. The surface texture of a polymeric film, such as a polymeric optical film, is controlled by incorporation of the coating, that can fracture or deform upon stretching the film.

An optical film that includes a reflective polarizer and a stretched polymer film is disclosed. The stretched polymer film is laminated to the reflective polarizer, and the stretched polymer film exhibits a refractive index symmetry point at an angle of incidence in air of at least about 60 degrees in a plane of incidence parallel to a direction of greatest stretch.

A roofing shingle may include a substrate, granules and multilayer infrared light reflecting film particles. In some cases, a roofing shingle may include a substrate, granules and a multilayer infrared light reflecting film disposed either above or below the granules. Such roofing shingles may exhibit improved solar reflectivity. An infrared light reflecting mixture may include inorganic granules and polymeric multilayer infrared light reflecting film particles. An existing construction surface may be treated to improve its solar reflectivity.

An adhesive tie layer includes a binder including a multifunctional acrylate and a polyurethane, surface treated nanoparticles dispersed in the binder, and a plurality of interconnected voids. A volume fraction of interconnected voids in the adhesive tie layer is not less than about 10%.

An antistatic article having an antistatic layer disposed on a substrate is disclosed herein. The antistatic layer is formed from a cationic copolymer, a non-cationic (meth)acrylic polymer, and a crosslinking agent. The cationic copolymer consists essentially of a cationic monomer, a hydrophobic monomer, a crosslinkable monomer, and an optional nitrogen-containing monomer. The substrate may comprise an optical film such as a multilayer optical film. Methods for making the antistatic article and display devices containing the antistatic article are also disclosed.
