A system and method for communicating operation failure of a remote pipeline pneumatic device. A flow detector is used in combination with the pipeline pneumatic device. A controller in combination with the flow detector and a long range communication transmitter communicates an alarm upon detecting a predetermined flow, such as outside an expected amount. The controller can initiate a flow timer upon the actuation of the pneumatic device, and transmit an alarm upon the flow timer exceeding a predetermined value representing the expected amount.

Long range device failure communication system

An integrated combustor-thermoelectric generator and method for producing electrical power and/or for operating a pneumatic or electric device. The apparatus includes a burner tube, a tubular heat exchanger extending along and around the burner tube, a plurality of thermoelectric generators disposed along sides of the heat exchanger, and a heat sink on an opposite side of the thermoelectric generators from the burner and heat exchanger. The thermoelectric generators can be paired with an electric valve or a DC air compressor for operating a pneumatic device by directing heated gases from the combustor through the heat exchanger to thermoelectric couples and/or modules for powering the air compressor. The thermoelectric generator and DC compressor can be installed to a natural gas source at a well pad for operating a pneumatic device at the well pad.

Systems and methods for generating power using hydrogen fuel, such as derived from natural gas, are provided. Feed materials are introduced into a compact hydrogen generator to produce carbon dioxide, hydrogen gas and steam. Sorbent material within the compact hydrogen generator acts to absorb carbon dioxide, forming a used sorbent. Hydrogen gas and steam are separated from the used sorbent and passed to a power generator such as a hydrogen turbine to produce power. The used sorbent is introduced into a calciner and heated to desorb carbon dioxide and form a regenerated sorbent which can be recycled to the compact hydrogen generator.

A method and system for an enhanced reforming process employing a pressure swing absorber. An off-gas from the pressure swing absorber is divided with a first portion sent back into a reforming reactor and a second portion sent to a heat generator for the reforming process. The first off-gas portion from the pressure swing absorber can be pressurized by a compressor and reintroduced into a fluidized bed reactor.

A system and method for producing ammonia at high conversion rates. The system having a fluidized bed reactor with a fluidized zone with catalyst particles. The fluidized bed reactor is preferably configured to receive a continuous flow of solid sorbent particles, nitrogen, and hydrogen, with the catalyst particles being at least ten times larger than the sorbent particles. The method allows for the nitrogen and hydrogen react on a surface of the catalyst in order to generate ammonia that is adsorbed by the sorbent particles. The method extracts the adsorbed ammonia from the sorbent particles with a sorbent regenerator to product a pure ammonia product.

An integrated combustor-thermoelectric generator and method for producing electrical power and/or for operating a pneumatic device. A thermoelectric generator includes a fuel and air mixture chamber with a combustor connected to the mixture chamber. The combustor including a longitudinal centerbody comprising a varying cross-sectional area along an axial length of the centerbody and a plurality of thermoelectric couples and/or modules disposed axially along sides of the centerbody. The thermoelectric generator can be paired with a DC air compressor for operating a pneumatic device by directing heated gases from the combustor to a plurality of thermoelectric couples and/or modules, and powering the air compressor with the thermoelectric couples and/or modules. The thermoelectric generator and DC compressor can be installed to a natural gas source at a well pad for operating a pneumatic device at the well pad.

Processes and systems for producing hydrogen gas utilizing a sorbent enhanced reformer in combination with a calciner operating at atmospheric pressure. Feed material is introduced into the sorbent enhanced reformer to produce carbon dioxide and hydrogen gas. Sorbent material within the reformer acts to absorb carbon dioxide and form a used sorbent. The used sorbent is introduced into the atmospheric calciner to heat the used sorbent to desorb carbon dioxide from the used sorbent to produce regenerated sorbent which can be recycled to the reformer.

A method for staged combustion in a combustor assembly includes introducing an oxidant stream and a fuel stream at a first location into a combustion chamber to produce a heated stream. A Liquid water stream and an additional oxidant stream, fuel stream or both are then introduced into the heated stream in at least one location along the heated stream downstream from the first location. The additional oxidant stream, fuel stream or both react in the heated stream to generate additional heat that vaporizes liquid water from the liquid water stream to water vapor.

A method for purifying water involves heating impure water in a first reboiler, a second reboiler and a combustion steam generator to ultimately produce about 3 parts by weight of clean water and about 1 part by weight of clean steam for every 4 parts by weight of the impure water. A water treatment system includes a gas-fired combustion steam generator that is operable to produce a hot steam stream. A reboiler is connected in receiving communication with the gas-fired combustion steam generator to receive the hot steam stream. A separator is connected with the reboiler and is operable to separate an output stream from the reboiler.

A gas generator includes a high pressure gas-generation system that is capable of generating a product gas stream at a non-ambient, elevated nominal pressure. A thermal swing absorber has a first configuration and a second configuration relative to being connected with the product gas stream. In the first configuration, the thermal swing absorber is connected with the high pressure gas-generation system to receive the product gas stream and remove a constituent gas from the stream. In the second configuration, the thermal swing absorber is disconnected from the product gas stream and releases the constituent gas at a pressure that is substantially equal to the elevated nominal pressure. In the second configuration, the thermal swing absorber is an input source to provide the released constituent gas into the high pressure gas-generation system, which permits more efficient use of materials within the system.
