Systems, apparatus and methods for hot tapping into pressurized, coated duct systems for transporting corrosive substances are disclosed. A branch line may be installed in such systems without shutting down or depressurizing the system using the disclosed systems, apparatus and methods without compromising the system coating or resistance to corrosion from the transported substances. Cut edges created when ductwork is cut to install a branch line are captured and sealed between two gaskets, avoiding the need for recoating with difficult to apply corrosive protection materials such as fluoropolymer coatings.

Hot tap system and method for coated ductwork

A conduit () comprising a plurality of conduit segments (A&#x2013;C) each having a body (A&#x2013;C) and a segment lining (A&#x2013;C) made of a lining material. Each body includes a joint face (A&#x2013;C) having secured thereto a portion (A&#x2013;C) of the corresponding segment lining. A monolithic lining () is formed from the segment linings by abutting the conduit segments with one another so that the joint faces face one another and the portions of the segment linings contact one another. The portions of the lining on the joint faces are heated to a temperature above the melting point of the lining material so that they fuse with one another so as to form a fusion (A,B) located between the joint faces.
